An Integrative Computational Pipeline for CK2 Inhibitor Discovery in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Using Virtual Screening, Molecular Dynamics, Machine Learning, and Density Functional Theory

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains among the most aggressive and therapeutically unresponsive subtypes due to the absence of ER, PR, and HER2 targets.

Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila melanogaster as Model Organisms in Biofactor Research

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 52, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
This review presents Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila melanogaster as powerful and ethically sound invertebrate model organisms that can be used to investigate nutritional science questions relating to biofactors. Such nutritional phenotyping studies can bridge the gap between in vitro studies and in vivo research in mammals.

Effect of Nutritional Factors on Mental Health Problems in Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Narrative Synthesis of Current Evidence

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
This narrative synthesis of 21 studies evaluates nutritional interventions for psychiatric comorbidities in ASD. Vitamin D3, omega‐3 fatty acids, and probiotics show preliminary benefits for anxiety and irritability, whereas GFCF diet results remain inconclusive.

Mutation of the casein kinase II phosphorylation site abolishes the anti-proliferative activity of p53

open access: yes, 1992
The p53 tumour suppressor protein is phosphorylated by several protein kinases, including casein kinase II. In order to understand the functional significance of phosphorylation by casein kinase II, we have introduced mutations at serine 386 in mouse p53,

Antibiofilm, Antimicrobial, and Anti‐inflammatory Potential of Rubus chamaemorus Rhizome, Leaf, and Fruit Extracts

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2026.
Rhizome, leaf, and fruit extracts of cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus L., Rosaceae) are systematically evaluated for biological activities relevant to wound infections. The methanolic leaf extract exhibits potent antibiofilm and anti‐inflammatory activity without cytotoxicity, whereas rhizome and fruit extracts are largely inactive.

Insulin-like growth factor I and insulin rapidly increase casein kinase II activity in BALB/c 3T3 fibroblasts

open access: yes, 2008
We have tested whether growth factors added to serum-deprived BALB/c 3T3 fibroblasts alter the casein kinase II activity measured in cell extracts. A rapid phosphocellulose chromatography method was developed that provides a 40-fold partial purification ...

Phosphorylated fibronectin enhances cell attachment and upregulates mechanical cell functions.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
A large number of extracellular matrix proteins have been found in phosphorylated states, yet little is known about how the phosphorylation of extracellular matrix proteins might affect cell functions.

Casein Kinase II Binds to and Phosphorylates Cytoplasmic Dynein

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1997
We have isolated a 27-kDa protein that binds to cytoplasmic dynein. Microsequencing of a 17-amino acid peptide of this polypeptide yielded a sequence which completely matched the predicted sequence of the beta subunit of casein kinase II, a highly conserved serine/threonine kinase.

Integration of Three‐Dimensional Cell Culture Techniques and Photobiomodulation for Supportive Differentiation of Adipose‐Derived Stem Cells into Smooth Muscle

open access: yesCell Biochemistry and Function, Volume 44, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Photobiomodulation (PBM) has gained recognition as a promising, non‐invasive strategy to enhance the differentiation of adipose‐derived stem cells (ADSCs) into smooth muscle cells (SMCs), particularly when used together with a three‐dimensional (3D) hydrogel culture system.

Structure and sequence of an intronless gene for human casein kinase II-α subunit

open access: yes, 1993
Using sixteen different primers based on the cDNA sequence of the human casein kinase II-α subunit, different fragments of this gene were amplified by PCR from human genomic DNA.
