Mixed lineage kinase 3 mediates SARS‐CoV‐2‐induced kidney injury via the Hsp70‐IL‐17A axis
Kidney samples from patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) showed upregulated expression and activity of Mixed Lineage Kinase (MLK3). Based on the mechanistic studies, we identified MLK3 as a critical player in promoting SARS‐CoV‐2‐induced kidney injury.

Regulation of ENaC by Casein Kinase II
The Epithelial Na + Channel, ENaC, is the final arbiter of sodium excretion in the kidneys. As such, discretionary control of ENaC by hormones is critical to the fine‐tuning of electrolyte and water excretion and consequently, blood pressure.

Small‐Molecule Kinase Inhibitors Modulating Circadian Rhythms
ABSTRACT The circadian clock mechanism generates 24‐h rhythms crucial for regulating various physiological processes, and its dysregulation has been implicated in numerous diseases. In cells, the circadian clock operates through a transcriptional‐translational feedback loop, where phosphorylation plays a pivotal role in maintaining accurate circadian ...

Phosphorylation and regulation of group II metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGlu2/3) in neurons
Group II metabotropic glutamate (mGlu) receptors (mGlu2/3) are Gαi/o-coupled receptors and are primarily located on presynaptic axonal terminals in the central nervous system.

Structural Insights Into the Function of Leishmania major Adenylosuccinate Lyase
ABSTRACT One of several intriguing aspects of kinetoplastid biochemistry is the complete dependence on host purines and purine recycling due to the lack of a de novo purine biosynthesis pathway. Adenylosuccinate lyase (ASL, EC 4.3.2.2) is a key enzyme in the purine synthesis pathway responsible for the conversion of adenylosuccinate into adenosine ...

CK2-mediated phosphorylation of general repressor Maf1 triggers RNA polymerase III activation [PDF]
Maf1 protein is a global negative regulator of Pol III transcription conserved from yeast to man. We report that phosphorylation of Maf1 by casein kinase II (CK2), a highly evolutionarily conserved eukaryotic kinase, is required for efficient Pol III ...

Identification and characterization of chloroplast casein kinase II from Oryza sativa (rice) [PDF]
Plastid casein kinase II is an important regulator of transcription, posttranscriptional processes, and, most likely, different metabolic functions in dicotyledonous species.

Activation of casein kinase II by sphingosine.
Sphingosine activates casein kinase II in the presence of endogenous substrates as well as a synthetic peptide substrate. The activation response occurred between 12 and 25 micrograms/ml sphingosine and exhibited positive cooperativity with a Hill coefficient of 3.0.

Phosphorylation of a Vesicular Monoamine Transporter by Casein Kinase II [PDF]
The vesicular monoamine transporters (VMATs) package monoamine neurotransmitters into secretory vesicles for regulated exocytotic release. One isoform occurs in the adrenal gland (VMAT1) and another in the brain (VMAT2). To assess their potential for regulation, we have investigated the phosphorylation of the VMATs.
