Effect of sun ginseng potentiation on epirubicin and paclitaxel-induced apoptosis in human cervical cancer cells

open access: yesJournal of Ginseng Research, 2015
Background: Sun ginseng (SG), a specific formulation of quality-controlled red ginseng, contains approximately equal amounts of three major ginsenosides (RK1, Rg3, and Rg5), which reportedly has antitumor-promoting activities in animal models.

Long non‐coding RNAs as therapeutic targets in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and clinical application

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

Red fruit oil increases trophoblast cells and decreases caspase-9 expression in placenta of lead exposed mice

open access: yesUniversa Medicina, 2016
BACKGROUND Lead is able to pass through the placental barrier and interfere with fetal development. Red fruit has high antioxidant activity, due to carotenoids (pro-vitamin A), tocopherols (vitamin E) and unsaturated fatty acids.

FEM1B enhances TRAIL‐induced apoptosis in T lymphocytes and monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
FEM1B facilitates TRAIL‐induced apoptosis through distinct mechanisms in T lymphocytes and monocytes. In T lymphocytes, FEM1B engages with TRAF2, leading to a reduction in TRAF2 expression, which subsequently lessens TRAF2's inhibitory influence on caspase‐8.

Serum Bcl-2, caspase-9 and soluble FasL levels as perinatal markers in late preterm pregnancies with intrauterine growth restriction

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2019
Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is the inability of the fetus to grow and develop in the expected pattern. It occurs in about 5% of pregnancies and is associated with severe fetal mortality and morbidity.

Functional parameters of spermatozoa obtained by a new selection device

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study compares density gradient centrifugation and the LensHooke CA0™ device for sperm separation. DGC requires multiple steps, specialized equipment, and technical expertise. In contrast, the CA0 device offers key practical and methodological advantages, resulting in a faster, simpler, and more affordable sperm selection method.

Impact of Teriparatide Acetate on Caspase-9 Gene Expression in Relation to Histological and Tunnel Assay of Apoptosis in Rat Kidneys and Livers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Veterinary Sciences
The study aimed to evaluate the effects of Teriparatide on liver and kidney tissues in rats and to examine the relationship between these effects and the gene expression of caspase-9 focusing on the mechanism of apoptosis. The experiment included 20 male

Liver‐specific lncRNAs associated with liver cancers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are regulatory molecules with various functions. They are more tissue‐specific than proteins and can be used as potential biomarkers, particularly in cancer diagnostics and prognosis. In this review, we have systematically compiled all lncRNAs with exclusive expression in the human liver, verified their liver specificity ...
