The Expression and Prognosis of Caspase-9 in Hepatocellular Carcinoma [PDF]
Objective: We aim to investigate the expression of Caspase-9 and its prognostic significance in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: The expression of Caspase-9 in 108 specimens of HBV-related HCC, 30 cases of cirrhosis tissue and 20 cases of normal liver tissue was examined by immunohistochemical staining.

Caspase-9: structure, mechanisms and clinical application
As the most intensively studied initiator caspase, caspase-9 is a key player in the intrinsic or mitochondrial pathway which is involved in various stimuli, including chemotherapies, stress agents and radiation. Caspase-9 is activated on the apoptosome complex to remain catalytic status and is thought of involving homo-dimerization monomeric zymogens ...

Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor(LY294002) induces apoptosis of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma in vitro and in vivo [PDF]
BACKGROUND: To evaluate whether PI3K/Akt pathway could effect on apoptosis and its mechanism in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. METHODS: The activation of the PI3K/Akt and its effect on CNE-2Z cells in vivo and in vitro was investigated by MTT assay ...

Caspase‐9 acts as a regulator of necroptotic cell death [PDF]
Necroptosis is a regulated necrotic‐like cell death modality which has come into the focus of attention since it is known to contribute to the pathogenesis of many inflammatory and degenerative diseases as well as to tumor regulation. Based on current data, necroptosis serves as a backup mechanism when death receptor‐induced apoptosis is inhibited or ...

Suppression of the intrinsic apoptosis pathway by sinaptic activity [PDF]
Synaptic activity promotes resistance to diverse apoptotic insults, the mechanism behind which is incompletely understood. We show here that a coordinated downregulation of core components of the intrinsic apoptosis pathway by neuronal activity forms a ...

Destabilizing Effect of Caspase-9 Association with Apoptosome [PDF]
Intrinsic pathway of Apoptosis is initiated by the release of cytochrome C from mitochondria leading to the formation of a mega Dalton complex called apoptosome. Apoptosome, which consists of seven molecules of Apaf-1, serves as a platform for the oligomerization and activation of procaspase-9.

Structure and Activation Mechanism of the Drosophila Initiator Caspase Dronc [PDF]
Activation of an initiator caspase is essential to the execution of apoptosis. The molecular mechanisms by which initiator caspases are activated remain poorly understood.

Effect of chlorpyrifos on the level of hippocampal caspase 9 in male rats: Short Commuincation
Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is an organophosphate pesticide that can damage the nervous system of insects by causing neurotoxicity. Although the molecular mechanisms related to it are not fully understood, some studies have suggested that apoptotic processes are ...
