Single‐Molecule Characterization of Bacterial Factor‐Dependent Transcription Activation by Rob

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Factor‐dependent transcription activation is crucial and involves complex interactions between transcription factors, RNA polymerase, and promoter DNA. Using single‐molecule assays, we show that Rob prebinds RNAP to facilitate promoter search and enhances DNA unwinding and promoter escape.

Blood Catalase Activities, Catalase Gene Polymorphisms and Acatalasemia Mutations in Hungarian Patients with Diabetes Mellitus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: Catalase decomposes hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water. Its low concentration could be involved in signaling while its high concentration is toxic.

Mucoadhesive Peptide‐Catalase Self‐Assembled Nano‐Formulation for Effective Treatment of Mucosal Inflammatory Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CR8L10 is self‐assembled with catalase (CAT) to form CR8L10@CAT nanocomplexes, which can anchor to mucosal surfaces via thiol‐disulfide exchange with mucin, thereby enhancing their mucosal retention. The efficient reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging at inflamed sites would then result in successful treatment in both the intravesical IC/BPS model ...

Characterization of Catalase from Psychrotolerant Psychrobacter piscatorii T-3 Exhibiting High Catalase Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A psychrotolerant bacterium, strain T-3 (identified as Psychrobacter piscatorii), that exhibited an extraordinarily high catalase activity was isolated from the drain pool of a plant that uses H2O2 as a bleaching agent.

A study of the antioxidants in Oxytropis pilosa (L.) DC. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2011
The objective of this study was to estimate the antioxidative potential of Oxytropis pilosa (L.) DC. during the active vegetative period. The activities of the antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase), the quantities of ...

EphB1‐Mediated Transient Blood‐Brain Barrier Opening Facilitates a Ferritin‐Based Nanotherapeutic for Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We constructed a brain‐targeted AFn‐DPZ nanodrug delivery system and identified EphB1 as its receptor on the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). This system facilitates drug transport across the BBB and thereby ameliorates cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease.

Cobalt Single‐Atom Nanozyme for Enhanced Intestinal Radioprotection and Tumor Radiosensitization via Bidirectional ROS Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Orally administered, pH‐responsive Co‐SAN exerts dual functions: in the alkaline intestinal milieu, it scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppresses the PI3K/AKT pathway and NETs formation, thus providing radioprotection; whereas in the acidic tumor microenvironment, it generates ROS and alleviates hypoxia, thereby enhancing radiosensitization.

Coordination‐Tuned Iridium Single‐Atom Nanozymes Boost Multienzyme Activity for Colorimetric Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breaking the coordination symmetry of Ir single‐atom sites through asymmetric Ir–N3S1 engineering tailors interfacial electron transfer, oxygen activation, and multienzyme‐like catalytic pathways. Operando spectroscopy and theoretical modeling uncover the atomic‐level origin of activity enhancement, providing a strategy for designing multifunctional ...
