Effects of catalpol on the activity of human liver cytochrome P450 enzymes

Xenobiotica, 2019
1. Catalpol possesses numerous pharmacological activities, and however, little data available for the effects of catalpol on the activity of human liver cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes. 2. This study investigates the inhibitory effects of catalpol on the main human liver CYP isoforms.

Borneol promotes oral absorption and penetration into brain of puerarin and catalpol

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica, 2016
To investigate the effect of borneol on the oral absorption and penetration into brain of puerarin and catalpol from cell level and animal level, and screen the concentration of borneol that is suitable for Zige compound oral preparation. Blood-brain barrier(BBB) model was established by co-culture of primary brain microvessel endothelial cells(BMEC ...

Novel antiproliferative analogs of the Taq DNA polymerase inhibitor catalpol

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2007
The naturally occurring iridoid catalpol (1) is a Taq DNA polymerase inhibitor. However, its poor lipophilicity might account for the lack of biological activity against human solid tumor cell lines. The traditional prodrug approach by means of peracetylation of the free hydroxyl groups led to a compound, which showed a marginal growth inhibition ...

Secretion of catalpol from Rehmannia glutinosa roots to the rhizosphere

Acta Physiologiae Plantarum, 2009
The concentrations of catalpol in the culture solutions, roots, stems and leaves of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch. were determined by HPLC. The biological activity of catalpol was detected with Arabidopsis thaliana L. seedlings. The results showed that all R. glutinosa Libosch. vegetative organs contained catalpol.

In VitroAntispasmodic Activity of Peracetylated Penstemonoside, Aucubin and Catalpol

Planta Medica, 1994
In vitro, the peracetates of penstemonoside, aucubin and catalpol, iridoids isolated from Parentucellia latifolia, antagonize the uterine muscular contractions induced by acetylcholine and calcium, in a similar way to papaverine. The antagonism is non-competitive against acetylcholine (pD2' values: 5.60 for the peracetates of penstemonoside, 5.74 for ...

RgMYC2 promotes catalpol biosynthesis by regulating Rg10HGO in Rehmannia glutinosa

Plant Science
Catalpol, one of the major bioactive components in the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Rehmannia glutinosa, exhibits multiple pharmacological activities such as hypoglycemic and neuroprotective effects. Consequently, mechanistic elucidation of catalpol biosynthesis regulation in R. glutinosa is critically important.

[Theoretical study on infrared vibration spectrum of catalpol by DFT].

Guang pu xue yu guang pu fen xi = Guang pu, 2015
The catalpol, which can be isolated from the Chinese traditional herbs Rehmannia glutinosa as an effective and active ingredient, is an iridoid glycoside with many pharmacological functions. The molecular structure and the infrared (IR) spectrum of catalpol were calculated using density-functional theory (B3LYP) at 6-311G** level, and the theoretical ...
