p120-catenin and β-catenin differentially regulate cadherin adhesive function
Vascular endothelial (VE)-cadherin, the major adherens junction adhesion molecule in endothelial cells, interacts with p120-catenin and β-catenin through its cytoplasmic tail. However, the specific functional contributions of the catenins to the establishment of strong adhesion are not fully understood. Here we use bioengineering approaches to identify

B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

Diverse Basis of β-Catenin Activation in Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Implications in Biology and Prognosis. [PDF]
β-catenin signaling is a major oncogenic pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Since β-catenin phosphorylation by glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) and casein kinase 1ε (CK1ε) results in its degradation, mutations affecting these phosphorylation ...

Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Potential Canonical Wnt Pathway Activation in High-Grade Astrocytomas
Aberrant wnt pathway activation through cytoplasmic stabilization of β-catenin is crucial for the development of various human malignancies. In gliomagenesis, the role of canonical (i.e., β-catenin-dependent) signalling is largely unknown.

α-Catenin is an inhibitor of transcription [PDF]
Significance Recent studies have shown that actin-binding and -regulating proteins, originally characterized in the context of cytoskeletal events, can also modify gene expression through directly impacting actin-dependent transcription. This study shows α-catenin (α-cat), an actin-binding protein that is essential for cell–cell adhesion and ...

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

Beta-catenin expression in psoriasis
Psoriasis is a common inflammatory skin disease characterized by abnormal keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation. Beta-catenin participates in intercellular adhesion. Catenins are proteins found in complexes with cadherin cell adhesion molecules of cells. The role of catenin in regulating keratinocyte stem cell differentiation and hair follicle
