Nitroglycerin Tolerance in Caveolin-1 Deficient Mice

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Nitrate tolerance developed after persistent nitroglycerin (GTN) exposure limits its clinical utility. Previously, we have shown that the vasodilatory action of GTN is dependent on endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS/NOS3) activity. Caveolin-1 (Cav-1) is known to interact with NOS3 on the cytoplasmic side of cholesterol-enriched plasma membrane ...

Proteomic Profiling of Myofiber Repair Annexins and Their Role in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Myofiber regeneration and membrane repair play crucial roles in maintaining the continuous physiological functioning of the neuromuscular system. A swift and efficient repair mechanism enables the rapid restoration of sarcolemmal integrity following cellular impairment in damaged skeletal muscles.

Involvement of Caveolin-1 in CD83 Internalization in Mouse Dendritic Cells

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2015
To become potent T-cell stimulators, DCs need to mature. Treatment with soluble CD83 (sCD83) induces immune tolerance and protects against transplant rejection by maintaining dendritic cells in an immature, tolerogenic state.

Molecular Basis and Clinical Spectrum of WNT10A‐Related Oligodontia

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Cellular Mechanism behind WNT10A phenotypes. ABSTRACT WNT10A mutations, a major genetic determinant of dental agenesis and ectodermal dysplasia, exert profound effects on craniofacial development. Although classified as rare disorders, these mutations account for more than half of oligodontia cases, reflecting their critical role.

Targeting Egfr‐Mediated Cell Proliferation and Lipid Metabolism Separation Effectively Accelerate Liver Regeneration

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
AREG coordinates cell proliferation and lipid metabolism reprogramming during liver regeneration and targeting lipid metabolism can promote liver regeneration. ABSTRACT Hepatocyte proliferation restores liver mass after partial hepatectomy (PHx), but the metabolic cost of this process remains unclear.

Interactions between proteins bound to biomembranes

open access: yes, 2003
We study a physical model for the interaction between general inclusions bound to fluid membranes that possess finite tension, as well as the usual bending rigidity. We are motivated by an interest in proteins bound to cell membranes that apply forces to

Caveolin-1 knockout mice exhibit airway hyperreactivity

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology, 2012
Caveolae are flask-shaped plasma membrane invaginations expressing the scaffolding caveolin proteins. Although caveolins have been found in endothelium and epithelium (where they regulate nitric oxide synthase activity), their role in smooth muscle is still under investigation.

A Zeolitic Pyrimidine Framework (ZPF) Nanoplatform Co‐Delivers a DNAzyme and a Protein Prodrug for Cascade‐Activated Tumour Therapy

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
A zeolitic framework co‐delivers a DNAzyme and a protein prodrug to tumour cells and executes a self‐amplifying therapeutic cascade: the DNAzyme elevates tumour oxidative stress to activate a caged RNase A prodrug. This spatiotemporally controlled synergy converts a genetic input into potent enzymatic cytotoxicity, suppressing tumour growth.

Lowering Caveolin-1 Expression in Human Vascular Endothelial Cells Inhibits Signal Transduction in Response to Shear Stress

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cell Biology, 2009
Vascular endothelial cells have an extensive response to physiological levels of shear stress. There is evidence that the protein caveolin-1 is involved in the early phase of this response. In this study, caveolin-1 was downregulated in human endothelial

Expression and clinical significance of Caveolin-1 in prostate Cancer after transurethral surgery

open access: yesBMC Urology, 2018
Background Prostate cancer is a common malignancy of the male genitourinary system that occurs worldwide. The current research aims to investigate caveolin-1 expression in prostate cancer tissue and its relationship with pathological grade, clinical ...
