Challenges and recommendations for improving the caviar labeling system
Conservation Science and Practice, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2026.The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List classifies sturgeon as the most endangered species. Illegal trade still poses a significant threat today. In 2000, a universal labeling system was introduced for the international caviar trade. This letter discusses the current state of labeling and suggests ways to improve it.
