A Mosaic of Future Maladaptation Predicted for the Widespread Tree Nothofagus pumilio

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Nothofagus pumilio, or lenga beech, is a widespread and locally‐adapted tree species endemic to South America's Patagonia region. Its diverse populations span a 2000‐km‐long range in the Andes Mountains, which is already experiencing adverse effects from climate change.

PTRF-IL33-ZBP1 signaling mediating macrophage necroptosis contributes to HDM-induced airway inflammation

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2023
Polymerase 1 and transcript release factor (PTRF, encoding by Cavin-1) regulates interleukin 33 (IL-33) release, which is implicated in asthma development.

Caveolae, caveolins, and cavins: complex control of cellular signalling and inflammation [PDF]

open access: yesCardiovascular Research, 2010
Caveolae are specialized lipid rafts that form flask-shaped invaginations of the plasma membrane. They are involved in cell signalling and transport and have been shown critically regulate vascular reactivity and blood pressure. The organization and functions of caveolae are mediated by coat proteins (caveolins) and support or adapter proteins (cavins).

PTRF Confers Melanoma‐Acquired Drug Resistance Through the Upregulation of EGFR

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 2, February 2026.
The upregulation of PTRF, a critical caveolar component, and the concomitant increase in caveolae number potentiate cellular proliferation and survival pathways, thereby contributing to melanoma drug resistance. ABSTRACT Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer. About half of all melanomas have activating BRAF mutations.

Variation in Tree Growth Increases With Global Warming

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 2, February 2026.
In recent decades, considerable research has focused on the long‐term trend of tree growth rates under global warming, yet little attention has been paid to trends in high‐frequency tree growth variations—that is, year‐to‐year differences in growth rates.

Morphology and paleoecology of a hybodontiform with serrated teeth, Priohybodus arambourgi, from the Late Jurassic of northeastern Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 1, Page 5-32, January 2026.
Abstract Hybodontiformes was a diverse, successful, and important group of shark‐like chondrichthyans known from a variety of ecosystems. Some representatives of the order had a wide palaeogeographic distribution, as is the case with Priohybodus arambourgi. With a multicuspidate crown, P. arambourgi was the first hybodontiform to develop fully serrated

Reduced detrusor contractility in cavin‐1 deficient mice

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2012
Objective Caveolae are omega‐shaped membrane microdomains which are abundantly expressed in the detrusor and has been shown to be of great importance for bladder function. Biogenesis of caveolae is dependent on caveolin‐1, membrane cholesterol and the recently discovered cavin‐1 protein.

Myocardin Family Members Drive Formation of Caveolae.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Caveolae are membrane organelles that play roles in glucose and lipid metabolism and in vascular function. Formation of caveolae requires caveolins and cavins.

Evidence, Miracles, and the Existence of Jesus: Comments on Stephen Law [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We use Bayesian tools to assess Law’s skeptical argument against the historicity of Jesus. We clarify and endorse his sub-argument for the conclusion that there is good reason to be skeptical about the miracle claims of the New Testament.
