Increased level of red cell distribution width is associated with poor coronary collateral circulation in patients with stable coronary artery disease

open access: yesTürk Kardiyoloji Derneği Arşivi, 2015
Objectives: Previous studies have shown the association between various hematological parameters and cardiovascular diseases, and their prognostic value. In this study, we compared red cell distribution width (RDW), neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and

Identifying Physical Interactions in Contact‐Based Robot Manipulation for Learning from Demonstration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robots can learn manipulation tasks from human demonstrations. This work proposes a versatile method to identify the physical interactions that occur in a demonstration, such as sequences of different contacts and interactions with mechanical constraints.

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

Efficient and Robust Standing Postures of Quadruped Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A calibrated static framework estimates load, optimizes torques, and adapts posture so quadruped robots stand efficiently and robustly under external payloads, achieving up to 50% lower torque demand. Inspired by the natural posture adjustments of animals under external loading, this article presents an optimization‐based framework for minimizing joint

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Residues of chlormequat (CCC) in fruits and other parts of tomato plants after treating the seedlings with 14C-CCC

open access: yesActa Agrobotanica, 2013
CCC remaining in tomato plants after treating the seedlings with a solution of 125 mg/l CCC to prevent their excessive growth has been studied in experiment conducted for two years. When seedling had been treated twice with CCC, the tomatoes of the first
