Genetic tumor syndromes in female cancer: insights into inherited cancer predisposition and clinical implications

open access: yesArchives of Gynecology and Obstetrics
A relevant proportion of malignancies predominantly or exclusively affecting women, including breast and gynecologic cancers, is attributable to hereditary tumor syndromes, profoundly impacting cancer risk, prognosis, and therapeutic management.

Intrinsically Mitochondria‐Targeting Nanozyme via Coordination‐Assembly of Natural Quercetin for Cascade Antioxidant Therapy of Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that quercetin naturally targets mitochondria. By coordinating quercetin with Fe3+, we engineer an ultrasmall cascade nanozyme (MCN) with superoxide dismutase‐catalase activities. MCN crosses the damaged blood–brain barrier, scavenges mitochondrial ROS, prevents mitochondrial DNA leakage, and blocks the cGAS‐STING pathway, thereby ...

Spin‐Selective Oxygen Evolution in Chiral Molecule‐Intercalated Layered Double Hydroxides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This hybrid electrocatalyst utilizes chiral phenylalanine intercalation within layered double hydroxides to boost oxygen evolution. Acting as a spin filter via the chiral‐induced spin selectivity effect, the material directs electron transfer along a lower‐energy pathway.

Modeling hospital catchment areas in pediatric oncology using an empirically parameterized extended Huff-model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Health Geographics
Background Specialized pediatric oncology is typically concentrated in a few high-volume centers, creating tensions between the need for centralization and equitable spatial access.

Place of Death of Cancer Patients Treated at a German Comprehensive Cancer Center

open access: yesPalliative Medicine Reports
Background: Public health research includes end-of-life care. Place of death is an indicator of end-of-life care quality. Objective: We assessed the place of death of cancer patients treated at a Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), caring for an average ...

Impact of Coronary Collateral Circulation on In-Hospital Death in Patients with Inferior ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesCardiology Research and Practice, 2015
Objectives. Coronary collateral circulation (CCC) may limit the size of right ventricular (RV) infarcts but does not fully explain the relationship between CCC and clinical adverse events in patients with inferior STEMI.

SPADE: A Deep Learning Framework for Spatial Mapping and Quantitative Cell–Cell Interaction Inference

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SPADE integrates spatial transcriptomics with single‐cell RNA sequencing by using cell–cell communications (CCC) as a guide for spatial mapping. It improves cell‐type localization, enhances sparse gene‐expression signals, and reveals CCC programs at single‐spot resolution.

Experiments with CCC on wheat: effects of spacing, nitrogen and irrigation

open access: yes, 1969
In experiments with spring and winter wheat at Rothamsted and Woburn during 4 years CCC increased yield at close spacing (4 in) (10 cm) more than at usual spacing (8 in) (20 cm), but there was no interaction between spacing and yield.

Cholesterol Laundry of Cell Membrane and Fatty Liver by Detergent Liposomes to Improve Anti‐Cancer Drug Responsiveness of Patient Liver Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cholesterol‐enriched plasma membranes in hepatocellular carcinoma impede drug penetration. Cholesterol (+)‐liposomes act as membrane‐specific detergents, extracting cholesterol and reducing barrier function without cytotoxicity. Following endocytosis, cholesterol transfers from endosomes to liposomes and is metabolized in the ER.
