ABSTRACT Andersen–Tawil syndrome (ATS) is a rare, hereditary channelopathy characterized by periodic paralysis, cardiac arrhythmias, and sometimes developmental anomalies. No association with hematologic malignancies has previously been reported. We describe the case of a 27‐year‐old man with genetically confirmed Type 1 ATS who developed T‐cell acute ...

Interstitial and Langerhans' dendritic cells in chronic periodontitis and gingivitis
The aim of the present study was to compare quantitatively the distribution of dendritic cell subpopulations in chronic periodontitis and gingivitis. Fourteen biopsies from patients with chronic periodontitis and fifteen from patients with gingivitis ...

ABSTRACT HIV transmission through the female and male reproductive tracts is governed by spatially organized interactions between virions, epithelial barriers, and tissue‐resident immune cells. Imaging approaches have been central to defining these earliest events, progressing from classical histology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) to modern ...

CD1a and MHC class I follow a similar endocytic recycling pathway
CD1 proteins are a family of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I-like antigen-presenting molecules that present lipids to T cells. The cytoplasmic tails (CTs) of all human CD1 isoforms, with the exception of CD1a, contain tyrosine-based ...

The authors investigated the effects of various glycan ligands for CLEC10A, a lectin receptor expressed on dendritic cells (DCs). Monocyte‐derived DCs were stimulated with glycan‐conjugated dendrimers in combination with the TLR1/2 ligand Pam3CysK4, and responses were investigated at the mRNA and protein level.

Immunomodulatory capacity of the serotonin receptor 5-HT2B in a subset of human dendritic cells
Serotonin is a monoamine neurotransmitter that signals through a wide array of receptors (5-HT1–7) many of which are also involved in immune processes.

Treatment of Reactive Histiocytosis With Oclacitinib: A Retrospective Case Series of 10 Dogs
Background: Canine reactive histiocytosis is a proliferative disorder of activated interstitial dendritic cells with cutaneous and systemic forms. An immune‐mediated aetiology is likely, and systemic immunomodulatory agents such as corticosteroids, tetracycline/niacinamide, ciclosporin, azathioprine and leflunomide have been employed for its management.
