Longitudinal Assessment of Plasmodium falciparum var Gene Transcription in Naturally Infected Asymptomatic Children in Papua New Guinea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Sequestration and antigenic variation are essential for Plasmodium falciparum survival in vivo contributing to severe pathologic findings and, also, chronic infection. Both are conferred by P.

The Contribution of Cholesterol and Squalene Synthase in Cancer: Molecular Mechanisms, Lipid Rafts and Therapeutic Approaches

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 46, Issue 2, Page 352-381, March 2026.
ABSTRACT A plethora of cellular signaling pathways are dysregulated in cancer cells, promoting carcinogenesis and migration. Cholesterol has recently been linked to cancer by several subcellular mechanisms, especially by its involvement in the formation of lipid rafts, which promote oncogenic signaling and cancer cell invasion. Squalene synthase (SQS),

Aging‐Derived Alterations in Genomic, Immune, and Metabolic Networks: Implications for Cancer Development and Therapy

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Ageing acts as a double‐edged sword in cancer. In the elderly, open chromatin, immunosenescence, and chronic inflammation drive SASP (IL‐6, MMPs), MDSC accumulation and T‐cell suppression, fostering tumor‐promoting microenvironments and limited therapeutic benefit.

Expression of CD36 (OKM5) antigen on epidermal cells in normal and diseased skin.

open access: yesActa dermato-venereologica, 1989
The expression of the CD36 (OKM5) antigen was studied with the PAP technique on sections of skin from healthy subjects and of normal and diseased skin from patients with various skin diseases. In specimens from healthy subjects the antigen was found on vascular and perivascular structures and in some cases it was seen on cells of the acrosyringium.

A Reproducible Workflow for Macrophage Membrane Isolation and Nanocore Selection Toward Bioinspired Nanoparticles Targeting Immunologically Cold Tumors

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 5, 9 March 2026.
A reproducible workflow is established for isolating macrophage membranes to enable the efficient preparation and characterization of membrane‐coated nanoparticles. By optimizing M2‐like nanovesicle stability and nanocore compatibility, this procedure advances the engineering of macrophage membrane‐coated nanoparticles with improved tumor targeting ...

Trends in Dietary Exosome‐Like Nanoparticles: Preparation, Nutritional Functions, Bioactive Delivery Efficacy, Human Health Effects, and Future Product Development

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
This graphical abstract summarizes the current advances in dietary exosome‐like nanoparticles (ELNs), highlighting their biogenesis pathways (MVB‐dependent, vacuole‐mediated, and EXPO routes), molecular composition (nucleic acids, lipids, proteins, and bioactive compounds), and major preparation strategies including differential ultracentrifugation ...

Sex Differences in Metabolite–Immune Circuits of Neuroinflammation

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 338, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Sex is a fundamental yet underexplored determinant of human neuroinflammation. Across autoimmune, neurodegenerative, and post‐infectious neurological syndromes, males and females exhibit consistent differences in disease vulnerability, progression, and immune tone.

Antenatal betamethasone impairs markers of cardiac development and function in near‐term lambs

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 3, Page 988-1007, 1 March 2026.
Abstract figure Summary of key molecular differences in the left ventricle of near‐term lambs exposed to antenatal betamethasone, compared to saline. Pregnant ewes received two doses of either saline (Saline) or betamethasone (Betamethasone, intramuscular, 11.4 mg) given 24 h apart, before delivery at 140 days of gestation (dG, term = 150 dG).

Mass screening for CD36 antigen expression and analysis of negative donor structure and supply capacity

open access: yesZhongguo shuxue zazhi
[Objective] To establish a database of CD36 antigen-negative donors through large-scale screening of apheresis platelet donors in Shenzhen for CD36 deficiency subtypes and blood group distribution, and to assess clinical demand and blood supply capacity through a retrospective analysis of the apheresis platelet donation volumes from 2019 to 2023 ...
