Anti-CD38 autoantibodies in type? diabetes
Human diabetes mellitus comprises two main clinical entities: type 1 and type 2 diabetes. While type 1 diabetes is autoimmune in origin, type 2 diabetes is due to a decreased sensitivity to insulin action (so-called insulin resistance) associated with impaired beta cell function.

Cd38/Adp-Ribosyl Cyclase [PDF]
The multifunctional ADP-ribosyl cyclase, CD38, catalyzes the cyclization of NAD+ to cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPr). The latter gates Ca2+ release through microsomal membrane-resident ryanodine receptors (RyRs). We first cloned and sequenced full-length CD38 cDNA from a rabbit osteoclast cDNA library.

Nanoparticle Immunoadjuvant Complexes Augment Germinal Center Responses to Vaccination
Scaffolding IL‐21 on the surface of a self‐assembling nanoparticle immunogen drives improved germinal center and humoral immune responses. These nanoparticle immunoadjuvant complexes (NICs) functionally modulate the germinal center driving improved somatic hypermutation and antibody maturation, suggesting this platform has potential utility as a ...

Immunotherapies targeting CD38 in Multiple Myeloma [PDF]
Recently, the monoclonal antibody daratumumab was approved as a single agent for the treatment of patients with relapsed/refractory Multiple Myeloma (MM). Daratumumab is an antibody targeting surface molecule CD38 on myeloma cells and the agent is already widely being used based on its good tolerability and proven efficacy.

Doehl et al. discovered an adaptive neuroimmune mechanism that induces itch in tick‐exposed guinea pigs, enabling rapid tick removal. This itch‐induced tick removal (IITR) is mediated by an adaptive cellular immune response and is independent of IgG, IgE, or TRPV1.

Granulocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells increased in early phases of primary HIV infection depending on TRAIL plasma level [PDF]
Background It has been demonstrated that Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells (MDSC) are expanded in HIV-1 infected individuals and correlated with disease progression.

Synthesis of Bispecific Conjugates by ADP‐Ribosyl Cyclases
Genetic fusion of a CD38 enzymatic domain to antibody scaffolds allows site‐specific conjugation of small‐molecule ligands. Using this approach, a PSMA ligand DUPA is conjugated with an anti‐human CD3 Fab antibody. The resulting bispecific anti‐CD3‐DUPA conjugate facilitates recruitment and activation of cytotoxic T cells against PSMA‐expressing ...
