Real‐World Retrospective Analysis of Daratumumab for Relapsed or Refractory Multiple Myeloma in Regional Australia

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, EarlyView.
This retrospective case series evaluated all patients treated with daratumumab between 2018 and 2023 across two regional hospitals in Australia. Fifty‐two patients were included with a median age of 74. Median progression‐free survival (PFS) was 13 months and overall survival (OS) was 27 months, with an overall response rate was 35%.

Characterizing CD38 expression in terminally differentiated B cells using variable lymphocyte receptor B tetramers

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionCD38 is an ectoenzyme receptor found on hematopoietic cells and its expression is used in the flow cytometric analysis of sub-populations of circulating B cells among peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) to aid in diagnosing patients ...

Novel Bispecific Engagers Targeting the CεmX Domain of mIgE‐Expressing Cells

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
We developed bispecific TCE & NKCE targeting the CεmX domain of mIgE to eliminate IgE‐producing cells. Both constructs demonstrated potent, specific, dose‐dependent cytotoxicity and selective immune activation in vitro. These results highlight their promise as off‐the‐shelf, potentially curative therapeutics for IgE‐associated allergic diseases ...

A Distinct Immune Signature Characterizes Cirrhosis in Ethiopian Individuals With Chronic HBV Infection

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Cirrhosis patients with untreated HBV in Ethiopia exhibit a distinct immune profile marked by depletion of NK cells, B cells, and T cells, alongside an expanded CD38+HLA‐DR+ CD8 T‐cell population. ABSTRACT Background and Aims The immune cell phenotype of African patients living with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is rarely described, despite

Cesni‐cel (ARI0002h) in ultra‐high‐risk multiple myeloma with plasma cell leukaemia or central nervous system involvement

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ARI0002h induced response in 15/17 patients with plasma cell leukaemia (PCL)/central nervous system (CNS)‐multiple myeloma (MM) (87% achieved ≥ very good partial response [VGPR]) with a median progression‐free survival (PFS)/overall survival (OS) of 10.5 and 15.9 months respectively.

Targeting capacity, safety and efficacy of engineered extracellular vesicles delivered by transdermal microneedles to treat plasmacytoma in mice

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine
Background Engineered extracellular vesicles (EVs) are emerging as a highly potential platform for targeted drug delivery in cancer therapy. Although intravenous injection is commonly used in EV treatment, there is growing interest in using microneedles (

Diverging in Vivo Immune Response Patterns After Oral Food Challenge in Peanut Allergic Adults

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, EarlyView.
After the oral food challenge, peanut (PN)‐allergic adults were monitored over 4 weeks, which revealed diverging immune response patterns, with strong responders (SR) exhibiting heightened Ara h 2+ B cell expansion, PN sIgE induction and increasing PN‐specific Tconv. Weak responders (WR) had more activated PN‐specific Tregs.

A 3D Bioprinted Platform That Maintains the Functional Integrity of Primary AML Cells

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
This study presents a 3D bioprinted platform using gelatin‐hyaluronic acid hydrogels to enhance primary AML cell survival and proliferation while preserving stem‐like properties in vitro. By recapitulating in vivo‐like metabolic activity and drug resistance, this system offers a robust tool for preclinical drug screening and personalised therapy ...
