DC-SIGN increases the affinity of HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein interaction with CD4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Mannose-binding C-type lectin receptors, expressed on Langerhans cells and subepithelial dendritic cells (DCs) of cervico-vaginal tissues, play an important role in HIV-1 capture and subsequent dissemination to lymph nodes. DC-SIGN has been implicated in

Reprogramming tumor cells with LCOR mRNA nanotherapy to enhance immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LCOR (Ligand‐dependent corepressor) mRNA encapsulated in polymeric nanoparticles restores LCOR activity in tumor cells, constraining aggressive tumor cell states and increasing tumor immunogenicity. This reprogramming makes tumor cells more vulnerable to T‐cell attack and enhances their response to immune‐checkpoint immunotherapy.

Correlations Between Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Titers, CD4+ T-Cell Counts, and COVID-19 Severity

open access: yesBiology, Medicine & Natural Product Chemistry
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) presents with diverse symptoms ranging from mild to severe. Patients with severe COVID-19 can show impaired humoral and cellular immunity and excessive pro-inflammatory cytokine production.

Engineering IL‐4 resistant proinflammatory human myeloid cells for cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a scalable workflow to generate proinflammatory human myeloid cells. CRISPR/Cas9‐edited CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells were expanded and differentiated with M‐CSF. Deletion of STAT6 or STAT6/NFKB1 enhanced macrophage proinflammatory gene expression and cytokine secretion in the presence of IL‐4 while maintaining antibody ...

Rapid and long-term disappearance of CD4+ T lymphocyte responses specific for Anaplasma marginale major surface protein-2 (MSP2) in MSP2 vaccinates following challenge with live A. marginale [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In humans and ruminants infected with Anaplasma, the major surface protein 2 (MSP2) is immunodominant. Numerous CD4(+) T cell epitopes in the hypervariable and conserved regions of MSP2 contribute to this immunodominance.

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

Understanding the slow depletion of memory CD4(+) T cells in HIV infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background The asymptomatic phase of HIV infection is characterised by a slow decline of peripheral blood CD4(+) T cells. Why this decline is slow is not understood.

Balance of CD4+IFNγ+ and CD4+CD25hiT cells as early predictor of a 3-month outcome in ischemic stroke patients

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2020
Early prediction for ischemic stroke (IS) outcome is a major challenge since it may help to optimize treatment program and  to make  it more  personalized. Since  T cells with  regulatory activity  are involved  in different  pathophysiological processes
