Runx1 is required for progression of CD41+ embryonic precursors into HSCs but not prior to this
Haematopoiesis in adult animals is maintained by haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), which self-renew and can give rise to all blood cell lineages. The AGM region is an important intra-embryonic site of HSC development and a wealth of evidence indicates that HSCs emerge from the endothelium of the embryonic dorsal aorta and extra-embryonic large arteries.

Hemofiltration induces generation of leukocyte-derived CD31+/CD41− microvesicles in sepsis [PDF]
Microvesicles (MV) are extracellular vesicles known to be associated with cellular activation and inflammation. Hemofiltration is an effective blood purification technique for patients with renal failure and possibly also eliminates inflammatory mediators in the setting of sepsis.

Cells release membrane vesicles in their surrounding medium either constitutively or in response to activating signals. Two main types of extracellular vesicles (EVs) are commonly distinguished based on their mechanism of formation, membrane composition ...

Itga2b regulation at the onset of definitive hematopoiesis and commitment to differentiation.
Product of the Itga2b gene, CD41 contributes to hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) and megakaryocyte/platelet functions. CD41 expression marks the onset of definitive hematopoiesis in the embryo where it participates in regulating the numbers of ...

Introduction/Objective: Platelets play an essential role in hemostasis, for their characterization, several platelet surface glycoproteins (GP) were identified as GPIIb, evaluated by the expression of CD41, and non-covalently binds to GPIIIa, recognized ...

Distinct hemogenic potential of endothelial cells and CD41+ cells in mouse embryos [PDF]
Definitive hematopoietic progenitor cells have been thought to develop from the vascular endothelium located in the aorta‐gonad‐mesonephros region of the mouse embryo. However, several recent findings have suggested that most hematopoietic progenitors are derived from non‐endothelial precursor cells expressing CD41.

Platelets are transfused to patients to prevent bleeding. Since both preparation and storage can impact the hemostatic functions of platelets, we studied platelet concentrates (PCs) with different initial composition in regard to platelet fragmentation ...

Circulating Small Extracellular Vesicles Reflect the Severity of Myocardial Damage in STEMI Patients
Circulating small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) contribute to inflammation, coagulation and vascular injury, and have great potential as diagnostic markers of disease.

CD41 is developmentally regulated and differentially expressed on mouse hematopoietic stem cells
AbstractCD41 expression is associated with the earliest stages of mouse hematopoiesis. It is notably expressed on some cells of the intra-aortic hematopoietic clusters, an area where the first adult-repopulating hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are generated.
