A Novel Model of Intravital Platelet Imaging Using CD41-ZsGreen1 Transgenic Rats

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Platelets play pivotal roles in both hemostasis and thrombosis. Although models of intravital platelet imaging are available for thrombosis studies in mice, few are available for rat studies. The present effort aimed to generate fluorescent platelets in rats and assess their dynamics in a rat model of arterial injury.

Mass Spectrometry‐Based Extracellular Vesicle Proteomics for Biomarker Discovery

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicle (EV) proteomics has emerged as a powerful platform for decoding intercellular communication and advancing biomarker discovery across human diseases. EVs carry proteins that reflect their cells of origin, offering a minimally invasive window into physiological and pathological processes.

Design and preclinical testing of an anti‐CD41 CAR T cell for the treatment of acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, 2023
AbstractAcute megakaryoblastic leukaemia (AMkL) is a rare subtype of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) representing 5% of all reported cases, and frequently diagnosed in children with Down syndrome. Patients diagnosed with AMkL have low overall survival and have poor outcome to treatment, thus novel therapies such as CAR T cell therapy could represent an ...

Rare Bleeding Disorders and Bleeding Disorder of Unknown Cause: Current Understanding and Recent Developments

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rare bleeding disorders (RBDs) represent a diverse group of inherited conditions involving coagulation factors or platelets. These conditions, such as Glanzmann thrombasthenia (GT) or severe coagulation factor deficiencies, are uncommon. In contrast, bleeding disorder of unknown cause (BDUC) is a diagnosis of exclusion without an identifiable ...

MojoSort™ Human CD41 Nanobeads Protocol v1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Product description and procedure summary:The cells targeted by the Nanobeads are either selected or depleted by incubating your sample with the directly conjugated magnetic particles. The magnetically labeled fraction is retained by the use of a magnetic separator.

Integrin αIIb (CD41) plays a role in the maintenance of hematopoietic stem cell activity in the mouse embryonic aorta [PDF]

open access: yesBiology Open, 2013
Summary Integrins are transmembrane receptors that play important roles as modulators of cell behaviour through their adhesion properties and the initiation of signaling cascades. The αIIb integrin subunit (CD41) is one of the first cell surface markers indicative of hematopoietic commitment.

A Novel Engineering Cell Therapy Platform Mimicking the Immune Thrombocytopenia‐Derived Platelets to Inhibit Cytokine Storm in Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a common and highly fatal hyperinflammatory syndrome characterized by the aberrant activation of macrophages. To date, there is a lack of targeted therapies for HLH.

Testing for Non‐Severe Heritable Platelet Function Disorders

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heritable platelet function disorders (HPFD) are a diverse group of bleeding disorders characterised by a primary qualitative defect in platelet function rather than platelet number. HPFD may be broadly categorised according to the severity of bleeding, with Glanzmann thrombasthenia and Bernard Soulier syndrome classically considered severe ...

Neutrophil expression of CD41/CD61 complex contributes to their adhesiveness in both healthy individuals and heart failure patients

open access: yesBMC Immunology
Background Neutrophils can release pro-inflammatory cytokines and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), leading to vascular thrombosis. Neutrophil-platelet interaction, a major component of thrombosis, is more pronounced in inflammatory pathologies ...

A functionally distinct HPA‐1a‐specific alloantibody associated with fetal/neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia that activates platelets via FcγRIIa

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Fetal/neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT) is caused by maternal alloantibodies directed against fetal platelet antigens, most commonly human platelet antigen‐1a (HPA‐1a). These antibodies mediate platelet destruction and can lead to fetal and neonatal thrombocytopenia severe enough to cause life‐threatening organ bleeds ...
