Immune platelet transfusion refractoriness associated with anti‐CD36 alloimmunisation in a Brazilian patient with platelet CD36 deficiency

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Immune platelet transfusion refractoriness (PTR) is usually mediated by anti‐HLA class I antibodies; immunisation against CD36 (platelet glycoprotein IV [GPIV]) is relatively rare. Platelet CD36 deficiency shows marked ethnic variability and is seldom reported in admixed Latin American populations.

A mouse model of irradiation and spleen-thymus lymphocyte infusion induced aplastic anemia

open access: yesHematology, 2022
Objectives The immune-induced aplastic anemia (AA) mouse model has been used for the study of AA. However, there were no uniform conditions for establishing a model and no assessment of immunological homeostasis.

Human brain matters: Navigating the neuropathology of COVID‐19

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 6, November 2026.
Severe COVID‐19 is associated with vascular dysregulation and chronic neuroinflammation, leading to axonal injury and neurodegeneration. In long COVID or PASC, persistent alterations in neuroimaging and biofluid biomarkers reflect ongoing neuronal damage and neuroinflammation, contributing to long‐term neurological symptoms including fatigue, cognitive

Tissue‐Specific Isolation of Hepatocyte Extracellular Vesicles From Human Plasma Enables Tissue‐Resolved Proteomic and miRNA Profiling

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Tissue‐specific resolution remains a critical barrier in liquid biopsy for precision medicine. To address this, we developed NEXPLOR (Novel EXtracellular vesicle PopuLation Omics Revealer), an immunoaffinity platform enabling selective enrichment of circulating tissue‐specific extracellular vesicles (TS‐EVs), demonstrated here for liver ...

Flow cytometric kinetic assay of calcium mobilization in whole blood platelets using Fluo‐3 and CD41 [PDF]

open access: yesCytometry, 1999
Platelet activation plays a major role in the physiology and pathology of hemostasis. Flow cytometry is a promising approach for the structural and functional analysis of platelets. However, the choice of adequate biological parameters and most technical issues are still under discussion.

Extracellular Vesicles: Classification, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
• EV content maintains cellular homeostasis and is involved in several disease onset and progression. • miRNA export in EVs depends on: RNA‐binding proteins recognizing motif sequences and on epitranscriptomic modifications. • The disclosure of delivery mechanisms is crucial for developing personalized EV‐based therapeutic tools. ABSTRACT Extracellular

High-Efficiency Enrichment of Megakaryocytes and Identification of Micromegakaryocytes from Human Bone Marrow by Imaging Flow Cytometry

open access: yesCells
Megakaryocytes (MKs) are rare, large, polyploid bone marrow (BM) cells responsible for the production of platelets. The identification and characterization of MKs is widely recognized as challenging.

Release of Intracoronary Microparticles during Stent Implantation into Stable Atherosclerotic Lesions under Protection with an Aspiration Device. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Stent implantation into atherosclerotic coronary vessels impacts on downstream microvascular function and induces the release of particulate debris and soluble substances, which differs qualitatively and quantitatively between native right coronary ...

CD43 but Not CD41 Marks the First Hematopoietic Stem Cells in the Human Embryo

open access: yesBlood, 2014
Abstract Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) emerge during embryogenesis and maintain multilineage hematopoiesis throughout the entire lifespan of the organism. Due to limited access to human embryonic tissues, early human HSC development remains a largely unexplored area of research.

CD41+ cmyb+ precursors colonize the zebrafish pronephros by a novel migration route to initiate adult hematopoiesis [PDF]

open access: yesDevelopment, 2008
Development of the vertebrate blood lineages is complex, with multiple waves of hematopoietic precursors arising in different embryonic locations. Monopotent, or primitive, precursors first give rise to embryonic macrophages or erythrocytes. Multipotent, or definitive, precursors are subsequently generated to produce the adult hematopoietic lineages ...
