CD41 and CD45 expression marks the angioformative initiation of neovascularisation in human haemangioblastoma

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2015
The initiation and formation of haemangioblastoma (HB) neovascularisation remain unknown, with concomitant controversy on its cytological origin. We detected HB-derived specific haematopoietic progenitors identified by surface expression of CD41 and CD45, which are similar to human embryonic vasculogenesis. CD41/CD45 cells expressed mesodermal markers,

Extracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase Induces the Megakaryocyte GPIIb/CD41 Gene through MafB/Kreisler [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 2004
Extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) facilitates cell cycle progression in most mammalian cells, but in certain cell types prolonged signaling through this pathway promotes differentiation and lineage-specific gene expression through mechanisms that are poorly understood.

Platelets' RNA as biomarker trove for differentiation of early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma from underlying cirrhotic nodules.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Background & aimsAmong the multiplicity of factors involved in rising incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-the second deadliest cancer, late diagnosis of early-stage HCC nodules originating from late-stage cirrhotic nodules is the most crucial. In

The Dynamic of Extracellular Vesicles in Patients With Subacute Stroke: Results of the “Biomarkers and Perfusion—Training-Induced Changes After Stroke” (BAPTISe) Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2021
Objective: Extracellular vesicles (EV) are sub-1 μm bilayer lipid coated particles and have been shown play a role in long-term cardiovascular outcome after ischemic stroke.

Functional activity of platelets and platelet-leukocyte interaction in rheumatoid arthritis: association with subclinical cardiac involvement

open access: yesBolʹ, Sustavy, Pozvonočnik
Platelet activation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and its associated cardiovascular complications. Assessing platelet functional activity and platelet-leukocyte complexes (PLCs) may help elucidate mechanisms of ...

Direct sequencing of β-globin gene reveals a rare combination of two exonic and two intronic variants in a β-thalassemia major patient: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2022
Background Due to indels in the β-globin gene, patients with β-thalassemia major exhibit a range of severity, with genotype β0β0 > β0β+ > β+β+, according to the production level of the β-globin chain. More than 300 mutations have been identified in the β-

Inhibition of MEKK3 Prevents Cerebral Cavernous Malformation Progression Via Restoring Endothelial Integrity and Restricting Microglial Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we demonstrate that aberrant MEKK3 signaling in endothelial cells and microglia drives the progression of cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs). Furthermore, we identify DPDH as a potent small‐molecule MEKK3 inhibitor with substantial therapeutic potential for CCM treatment.

A Biomimetic cRGDyk‐Engineered Platelet Nanoplatform for ACAD11 Delivery to Trigger Pyroptosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic platelet nanoplatform (OE‐ACAD11@R‐PLT) is developed for targeted hepatocellular carcinoma immunotherapy. By selectively delivering therapeutic plasmids, this system induces mitochondrial dysfunction and triggers robust NLRP3/Caspase‐1/GSDMD‐mediated pyroptosis in tumor cells.

Phenotypic and Genotypic Analysis of Two Rare Cases of ‐‐SEA/‐α4.3 HbH Disease

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
We report two unrelated adult patients with rare deletional HbH disease (genotype ‐‐SEA/‐α4.3). This novel 4.3 kb deletion covering the HBA1 gene is accompanied by X‐Y‐Z segment recombination, which was identified by CycloneSEQ long‐read nanopore sequencing.
