Immunomodulatory Properties of Withania somnifera: Regulation of Innate Immune Cells and Clinical Implications

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 10, Page 5951-5972, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal (WS), commonly known as Ashwagandha, is a prominent medicinal herb in Ayurveda, with extensive therapeutic potential attributed to its diverse phytochemical profile. This review critically examines the immunomodulatory properties of WS, focusing on innate immune cell populations, including neutrophils, eosinophils,

A Distinct Immune Signature Characterizes Cirrhosis in Ethiopian Individuals With Chronic HBV Infection

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 64, Issue 7, Page 951-964, October 2026.
Cirrhosis patients with untreated HBV in Ethiopia exhibit a distinct immune profile marked by depletion of NK cells, B cells, and T cells, alongside an expanded CD38+HLA‐DR+ CD8 T‐cell population. ABSTRACT Background and Aims The immune cell phenotype of African patients living with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is rarely described, despite

Diagnostic utility of inflammatory markers in formalin‐fixed and paraffin‐embedded muscle biopsies for idiopathic inflammatory myopathies

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 89, Issue 4, Page 699-709, October 2026.
Formalin‐fixed, paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) muscle tissue supports robust immunohistochemical detection of MHC II, MxA, and p62 with performance comparable to frozen sections. This approach reliably identifies the pathological signatures of inclusion body myositis, dermatomyositis, immune‐mediated necrotizing myopathy, and overlap myositis, enhancing the ...

Immunophenotypic, Genetic, and Clinical Features Associated With RUNX1 Mutation in Acute Leukemias and Chronic Myeloid Neoplasms

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 48, Issue 5, Page 1094-1102, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction RUNX1 is a commonly mutated transcriptional regulator of hematopoiesis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Mutated RUNX1 (mRUNX1) may associate with cross‐lineage immunophenotypic aberrancy, presenting potential complications for blast lineage assignment at diagnosis. Methods Clinical and laboratory

CD56+, NKp46+ cell line (MZ93) expressing T-cell and myeloid antigens

open access: yesCD56+, NKp46+ cell line (MZ93) expressing T-cell and myeloid antigens
The MZ93 cell line, established from a patient with CML, expressed CD4, CD7, GD13, CD25, CD33, CD34, CD56 and NKp46. The additional karyotype abnormality of the Ph-positive leukemia cells in vivo, 6p+, was also observed in the MZ93. The early passages of MZ93 expressed CD3 in the cytoplasm, but the late passages did not.

P097 | ROUTINE MULTIPARAMETRIC FLOW CYTOMETRY ANALYSIS QUICKLY RULE OUT HEMATOLOGICAL DISEASES IN CASE OF BONE MARROW NEOPLASTIC INVASION.

open access: yesHaematologica
Background: Multiparametric flow cytometry (MFC) is a widely employed technique by hematologists for the characterization of cellular populations in peripheral blood, bone marrow (BM) or body cavity fluids samples, particularly in the context of ...
