Detection of antibody-dependent complement mediated inactivation of both autologous and heterologous virus in primary HIV-1 infection [PDF]
Specific CD8 T-cell responses to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) are induced in primary infection and make an important contribution to the control of early viral replication.

Porcine kidney xenotransplantation: From primate models to clinical reality
In the face of a critical shortage of human donor kidneys for end‐stage renal disease patients, porcine kidney xenotransplantation has emerged as a viable solution. This field has navigated major hurdles, including immune rejection, physiological incompatibilities, potential biomechanical differences and the risk of cross‐species infection. To overcome

Genetic‐Proteomic Integration Identifies Predictive Plasma Proteins for Multiple Sclerosis
Objective Multiple sclerosis (MS) develops after a prolonged preclinical phase. Identifying circulating biomarkers that capture this early biology can improve risk stratification and guide intervention. We aimed to identify plasma proteins driving MS susceptibility using large‐scale proteogenomic integration and to evaluate their prediagnostic ...

Immunomodulating red blood cell coating for mitigation of foreign body reactions
Chronic inflammation of biomedical implants usually leads to fibrosis and device malfunction in the long term. To address these issues, a cell-crosslinked coating of red blood cells (RBCs) was developed to imitate a self-friendly biological membrane and ...

Integration of maternal genome into the neonate genome through breast milk mRNA transcripts and reverse transcriptase [PDF]
Human milk samples contain microvesicles similar to the retroviruses. These microvesicles contain mRNA transcripts and possess reverse transcriptase activity. They contain about 14,000 transcripts representing the milk transcriptome.

We retrospectively evaluated the impact of C5 complement inhibition on immune cell profiles and recovery in 27 PNH patients; both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells exhibited partial recovery, while B cell counts increased but remained below normal levels. In contrast, Treg cells were significantly reduced in PNH patients and showed no notable change post‐treatment.

Proteomic Changes in Cancer Cell Lines as a Result of Bacterial Infection
ABSTRACT Bacterial infections have been implicated in shaping the tumor microenvironment (TME), but their effects on cancer cell proteomes remain unexplored. In this study, we analyzed proteomic changes in melanoma (A375) and ovarian cancer (OVCAR3) cell line models following infection with Staphylococcus aureus strain USA300 or Salmonella enterica ...

Imaging mass cytometry shows lupus panniculitis lesions are dominated by cytotoxic and skin‐homing T cells with abundant macrophages and B‐cell aggregates. Spatial neighborhood analysis reveals organized leukocyte architecture, including B‐cell proximity to naïve T cells and M1 macrophages to cytotoxic T cells.
