Age Influences Microglial Activation After Cuprizone-Induced Demyelination

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2018
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory CNS disease, which causes demyelinated lesions and damages white and gray matter regions. Aging is a significant factor in the progression of MS, and microglia, the immune cells of the CNS tissue, play an

Targeting UXS1‐Dependent Glucuronate Detoxification Potentiates Metformin's Anti‐Tumor Efficacy in Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that metformin promotes glucuronic acid metabolism in lung adenocarcinoma by activating UGDH S476 phosphorylation and enhancing the conversion of UDPG to UDPGA based on metabolomics analysis. Through compound virtual screening, it is found that plantainoside targeting UGDH downstream UXS1 leads to UDPGA toxicity accumulation ...

Astrocytic marker was decreased in the brain of prenatally saline-exposed offspring, but not in the offspring prenatally exposed to LPS, following pharmacological activation of mGluR5.

open access: yes, 2015
A prenatal administration of LPS did not change the brain expression level of iba1, CD68, GFAP or mGluR5 in 4-month-old mice (A). Postnatal CDPPB treatment reduced the GFAP level, without effect on iba1, CD68 or mGluR5 in the mice prenatally exposed to ...

PRMT1‐Mediated LDHA Methylation Drives STAT3 Lactylation to Orchestrate Intestinal Inflammation and Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies an immunometabolic axis wherein SAM‐driven PRMT1 methylates LDHA, enhancing its activity. The resultant lactate induces STAT3 K709 lactylation, which stabilizes an active conformation to promote STAT3 phosphorylation and IL‐10 expression.

Distinct Pattern of Microgliosis in the Olfactory Bulb of Neurodegenerative Proteinopathies

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, 2017
The olfactory bulb (OB) shows early neuropathological hallmarks in numerous neurodegenerative diseases, for example, in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD).

IFN-γ-producing CD4+ T cells promote experimental cerebral malaria by modulating CD8+ T cell accumulation within the brain.

open access: yes, 2012
It is well established that IFN-γ is required for the development of experimental cerebral malaria (ECM) during Plasmodium berghei ANKA infection of C57BL/6 mice. However, the temporal and tissue-specific cellular sources of IFN-γ during P.

PET Imaging of Cardiac Inflammation in Viral Myocarditis Using a DPP4‐Targeted Probe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study describes a DPP4‐targeted PET probe for imaging myocardial inflammation by selectively targeting activated immune cells. Derived from the clinically approved small‐molecule inhibitor linagliptin, the probe demonstrates favorable biodistribution with specific cardiac uptake in myocarditis.

Identification of immune-related diagnostic genes and immune cell infiltration in aseptic loosening of prostheses after total hip arthroplasty by integrated bioinformatics analysis and experimental confirmation

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
BackgroundAseptic loosening (AL) of hip prostheses is one of the main reasons for revision total hip arthroplasty (rTHA). However, the transcriptomic characteristics of AL are scarcely understood. This study aimed to discover candidate biomarkers for the

Icariin Enhances the Enzymatic Activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase to Augment Akkermansia Abundance in Gut Microbiota for Improved PD‐1 Blockade Efficacy in Tumor Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Icariin promoted the growth of Akk by enhancing the activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase (Amuc_0920), which enhanced mucin utilization and provided a favorable nutrient environment for bacterial growth. This icariin‐mediated enrichment of Akk further reshaped the tumor microenvironment and promoted CD8+ T cell infiltration, ultimately synergizing with
