Immunomodulatory effects of heat killed 'Mycobacterium obuense' on human blood dendritic cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Heat-killed (HK) Mycobacterium obuense is a novel immunomodulator, currently undergoing clinical evaluation as an immunotherapeutic agent in the treatment of cancer. Here, we examined the effect of in vitro exposure to HK M. obuense on the expression of

Oxidative Stress in the Tumor Immune Microenvironment: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Oxidative stress is involved in several key processes in cancer, including redox regulation, DNA damage, post‐translational modifications, transcriptional regulation, epigenetic modifications, metabolic reprogramming, cell death, and immune modulation. These mechanisms collectively influence tumor progression, immune evasion, and therapeutic responses,

The CD83 reporter mouse elucidates the activity of the CD83 promoter in B, T, and dendritic cell populationsin vivo [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2008
CD83 is the major surface marker identifying mature dendritic cells (DCs). In this study, we report the generation of reporter mice expressing EGFP under the control of the CD83 promoter. We have used these mice to characterize CD83 expression by various immune system cell types bothin vivoandex vivoand under steady-state conditions and in response to ...

Differential expression of cell surface markers in response to 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene in RAW 264.7 and primary immune cells [PDF]

open access: yesBMB Reports, 2012
We evaluated the expression of the costimulatory moleculesCD80 and CD83 and major histocompatibility (MHC) class IIinduced by 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB) in the RAW264.7 macrophage cell line.

CTLA4 is expressed on mature dendritic cells derived from human monocytes and influences their maturation and antigen presentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background Dendritic cells (DCs) initiate immune responses through their direct interaction with effector cells. However, the mechanism by which DC activity is regulated is not well defined. Previous studies have shown that CTLA4 on T cells regulates DCs

Neoadjuvant Immunochemotherapy Increases the Abundance of Tertiary Lymphoid Structures and Lymphocyte Subpopulations Is Associated With Prognosis of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy (NIC) has emerged as a promising strategy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, its impact on tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) and the immune microenvironment remains to be fully elucidated. We retrospectively analyzed 50 ESCC patients treated with NIC (n = 25) or chemotherapy alone (n = 25 ...

Prevention and Treatment of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis by Soluble CD83 [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Experimental Medicine, 2004
CD83 is up-regulated on the surface of dendritic cells (DCs) during maturation and has been widely used as a marker for mature DCs. Recently, we reported the recombinant expression of the extracellular immunoglobulin domain of human CD83 (hCD83ext). Using this soluble form of CD83, allogeneic as well as specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte proliferation ...

Comprehensive Evaluation of the Anti‐Inflammatory Activity of Ling‐Zhi‐8 (LZ‐8) In Vitro and a Rheumatoid Arthritis Animal Model

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
LZ‐8 reduced IL‐6 and COX‐2 in LPS‐stimulated macrophages, partly by inhibiting MyD88‐mediated JNK‐MAPK signaling. LZ‐8 reduced inflammation and swelling in the ankle and palm of the feet in the animal model. High‐dose LZ‐8 reduced synovial hyperplasia, and all doses protected articular cartilage.
