Lung cancer (LC) remains the leading cause of global cancer‐related death. Phytochemicals from medicinal plants are increasingly being considered as potential LC treatment agents due to their multi‐targeted action, safety, and accessibility. These have anticancer properties by regulating key molecular signaling pathways.

Background: Fas/CD95 is the best-studied member of the death receptor (DR) superfamily in the central nervous system where it can trigger cellular responses other than apoptosis, including the promotion of neurogenesis and neuritogenesis, stimulation of ...

Role of mitochondrial raft-like microdomains in the regulation of cell apoptosis [PDF]
Lipid rafts are envisaged as lateral assemblies of specific lipids and proteins that dissociate and associate rapidly and form functional clusters in cell membranes.

Extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) induces apoptosis in circulating immune cells, but its kinetics vary slightly depending on the cell type. We compared the progression of apoptosis in PBMCs versus highly purified T cells exposed to 8‐methoxypsoralen and ultraviolet A.

IRE1 RNase controls CD95-mediated cell death
Signalling by the Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) or by the Death Receptors (DR) are frequently activated towards pro-tumoral outputs in cancer. Herein, we demonstrate that the UPR sensor IRE1 controls the expression of the DR CD95/Fas, and its cell ...

NF-κB signaling and crosstalk during carcinogenesis
Transcription factors (TFs) are proteins that control the transcription of genetic information from DNA to mRNA by binding to specific DNA sequences either on their own or with other proteins as a complex.

Metalloprotease‐mediated cleavage of CD95 ligand
CD95 is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily that is ubiquitously expressed in healthy and pathological tissues. Stimulation of CD95 by its physiological ligand CD95L induces its oligomerization leading in turn to the transduction of either apoptotic or nonapoptotic signals.

In OKT3‐treated human PBMCs, Wnt signaling was downregulated, and co‐treatment with the Wnt activator CHIR99021 reduced T cell activation and apoptosis. In humanized mice, transcriptomic profiling revealed upregulation of genes associated with T cell activation, cytokine and ROS production, and apoptosis, with downregulation of canonical Wnt signaling.
