Cdk1 and cell morphology: connections and directions
Current Opinion in Cell Biology, 2009Cells undergo dramatic shape transitions as they progress through the cell cycle. Here, we discuss how communication between the ubiquitous cell cycle regulator Cdk1 and cell morphology factors such as Cdc42 coordinates the cell cycle and cell morphology in the budding and fission yeasts.

Cep63 Recruits Cdk1 to the Centrosome—Letter
Cancer Research, 2015In 2011, we published a characterization of the phenotypes of Cep63 downregulation and overexpression in human cells in Cancer Research ([1][1]). Recently, it was shown that several antibodies commonly used to detect Cdk1 cross-react with Cep152 ([2][2]).

Characterization of a novel cdk1‐related kinase
European Journal of Biochemistry, 1999The p13suc1/p9CKShs proteins bind tightly to the cyclin‐dependent kinases cdk1 and cdk2. The distantly related protein, p15cdk‐BP, binds cdk4/6, cdk5 and cdk8. We now show that immobilized p15cdk‐BP binds both an HMG‐I kinase and a 35‐kDa protein that cross‐reacts with anti‐PSTAIRE antibodies (PSTAIRE is a totally conserved motif located in subdomain ...

CDK1 in Breast Cancer: Implications for Theranostic Potential.
Anti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2020Breast cancer has been identified as one of the main cancer-related deaths among women during some last decades. Recent advances in the introduction of novel potent anti-cancer therapeutics in association with early detection methods led to a decrease in

Cdk1: conductor of CENP-A symphony orchestra [PDF]
The inheritance of human genome through mitosis is precisely regulated by a series of tightly orchestrated events such as chromosome condensation, bi-orientated spindle formation, chromosome congression, segregation and cytokinesis. Chromosome movements during mitosis are governed by dynamic interactions of spindle microtubules with a specialized ...

Phosphorylation by CDK1 regulates XMAP215 function in vitro
Cell Motility and the Cytoskeleton, 1999XMAP215, a microtubule-associated protein isolated from Xenopus eggs, promotes microtubule assembly dynamics in an end-specific manner: addition of XMAP215 to purified porcine tubulin increases both elongation and shortening rates at microtubule plus ends, with minimal effects at minus ends.

Cdk1 is an important cell cycle regulator that, in association with different cyclin regulatory subunits, is responsible for signaling important cell cycle events in all eukaryotic cells. In budding yeast, inhibition of Cdk1 by selective deletion of cyclin subunits has been shown to prevent anaphase onset, suggesting that Cdk1 activity is critically ...

Cdk1 Is Essential for Mammalian Cyclosome/APC Regulation
Experimental Cell Research, 2000The cyclosome/APC (anaphase-promoting complex), the major component of cell-cycle-specific ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis of mitotic cyclins and of other cell cycle proteins, is essential for sister chromatid separation and for exit from mitosis. Cyclosome activity and substrate specificity are modulated by phosphorylation and by transient interactions
