UBE2J2 is essential for the progression of meiosis prophase I during spermatogenesis in mice
Summary: The coordination of numerous proteins is necessary for spermatogenesis, including degradation through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Ubiquitin binding enzyme E2 (UBE2J2) is involved in the degradation of endoplasmic reticulum-associated ...

Aβ42 promotes the aggregation of α‐synuclein splice isoforms via heterogeneous nucleation
The aggregation of amyloid‐β (Aβ) and α‐synuclein (αSyn) is associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. This study reveals that Aβ aggregates serve as potent nucleation sites for the aggregation of αSyn and its splice isoforms, shedding light on the intricate interplay between these two pathogenic proteins.

I must confess, I came to cell biology rather serendipitously; perhaps my journey may carry some ideas for young scientists who want to prepare themselves for studying cell biology today. Although I was interested in biology as a high school student, I found myself as an undergraduate at the Indian Institute of Technology, studying to become an ...

ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.

The Epistemology of Cell Biology
In the next decade and beyond, cell biology will see an acceleration of the trend toward complementing process-centered approaches, in which one focuses on identifying and characterizing the key players that carry out a specific cellular job, with a component-centered view aiming to define systematically the functional roles of a given biological ...

A single-cell atlas of the myometrium in human parturition
Parturition is a well-orchestrated process characterized by increased uterine contractility, cervical ripening, and activation of the chorioamniotic membranes; yet, the transition from a quiescent to a contractile myometrium heralds the onset of labor ...
