Cell wall architecture and the role of wall teichoic acid in Staphylococcus aureus [PDF]
The bacterium Staphylococcus aureus only synthesises peptidoglycan during cell division at the septum using a complex protein biosynthetic apparatus called the divisome.

New established melanoma cell lines: genetic and biochemical characterization of cell division cycle [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Cancer might be envisaged as the result of a genetic process causing the unregulated proliferation of a given cell as well as its inability to undergo differentiation and/or apoptosis.

Structure, Function and Regulation of the Hsp90 Machinery
Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is an ATP-dependent molecular chaperone which is essential in eukaryotes. It is required for the activation and stabilization of a wide variety of client proteins and many of them are involved in important cellular pathways.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

DNA damage responses in the context of the cell division cycle
During my PhD, I have investigated aspects of the DNA damage response (DDR) in the context of three different cellular scenarios: DNA damage signalling in response to double-strand breaks during mitosis, coordination of DNA replication with DNA damage ...

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Investigation of human centrosomes - with a special focus on the function of Cep152 and Cep192 in centriole duplication [PDF]
Centrioles are symmetrical, barrel-shaped, microtubule-based structures, that serve as building platforms for the formation of centrosomes and cilia. In dividing cells, they recruit a matrix of proteins called pericentriolar material (PCM) to form the ...
