Genetic Cell-Surface Modification for Optimized Foam Fractionation

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2020
Rhamnolipids are among the glycolipids that have been investigated intensively in the last decades, mostly produced by the facultative pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa using plant oils as carbon source and antifoam agent.

Protocol for imaging nuclear pore complexes on isolated nuclei of zebrafish early embryos by field emission scanning electron microscopy

open access: yesSTAR Protocols, 2023
Summary: Here, we present a protocol to observe the three-dimensional surface of nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) of vertebrate early embryos by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM).

Inferring structural variant cancer cell fraction [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Abstract We present SVclone, a computational method for inferring the cancer cell fraction of structural variant (SV) breakpoints from whole-genome sequencing data. SVclone accurately determines the variant allele frequencies of both SV breakends, then simultaneously estimates the cancer cell fraction and SV copy number.

Comparison of peripheral leukocyte parameters in patients receiving conventionally and hypofractionated radiotherapy schemes for the treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
IntroductionTreatment for glioblastomas, aggressive and nearly uniformly fatal brain tumors, provide limited long-term success. Immunosuppression by myeloid cells in both the tumor microenvironment and systemic circulation are believed to contribute to ...

Coming together to define membrane contact sites. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Close proximities between organelles have been described for decades. However, only recently a specific field dealing with organelle communication at membrane contact sites has gained wide acceptance, attracting scientists from multiple areas of cell ...

Stable Isotope Fractionation of Metals and Metalloids in Plants: A Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
This work critically reviews stable isotope fractionation of essential (B, Mg, K, Ca, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mo), beneficial (Si), and non-essential (Cd, Tl) metals and metalloids in plants.

Bioassay-guided isolation and identification of antimicrobial compounds from thyme essential oil by means of overpressured layer chromatography, bioautography and GC-MS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A simple method is described for efficient isolation of compounds having an antibacterial effect. Two thyme (Thymus vulgaris) essential oils, obtained from the market, were chosen as prospective materials likely to feature several bioactive components ...

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...
