Decreased expression of circ_0020397 in intracranial aneurysms may be contributing to decreased vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation via increased expression of miR-138 and subsequent decreased KDR expression

open access: yesCell Adhesion & Migration, 2019
Dysfunction of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) mediates intracranial aneurysm (IA). KDR is reported to alleviate IA progression via promoting VSMC proliferation, while the upstream regulators are still unclear.

Structure, regulatory factors and cancer-related physiological effects of ADAM9

open access: yesCell Adhesion & Migration, 2020
The ADAMs family belongs to the transmembrane protein superfamily of zinc-dependent metalloproteases, which consists of multiple domains. These domains have independent but complementary functions that enable them to participate in multiple biological ...

M2 Macrophage-Derived Exosomes Promote Cell Migration and Invasion in Colon Cancer.

open access: yesCancer Research, 2018
Clinical and experimental evidence has shown that tumor-associated macrophages promote cancer initiation and progression. However, the macrophage-derived molecular determinants that regulate colorectal cancer metastasis have not been fully characterized.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Predictable fibroblast tension generation by measuring compaction of anchored collagen matrices using microscopy and optical coherence tomography

open access: yesCell Adhesion & Migration, 2019
The anchored fibroblast-populated collagen matrix (aFPCM) is an appropriate model to study fibrocontractive disease mechanisms. Our goal was to determine if aFPCM height reduction (compaction) during development is sufficient to predict tension ...

The multiple faces of leukocyte interstitial migration

open access: yes, 2014
Spatiotemporal control of leukocyte dynamics within tissues is critical for successful innate and adaptive immune responses. Homeostatic trafficking and coordinated infiltration into and within sites of inflammation and infection rely on signaling in ...

The tumor-promoting functions of Ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM) in cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
textAtaxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM) protein kinase regulates the DNA damage response (DDR) and is associated with cancer suppression by protecting cells from DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs). However, how ATM functions outside of DSB signaling is less

Matrix mechanical plasticity regulates cancer cell migration through confining microenvironments

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Studies of cancer cell migration have found two modes: one that is protease-independent, requiring micron-sized pores or channels for cells to squeeze through, and one that is protease-dependent, relevant for confining nanoporous matrices such as ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Tissue factor potentiates adherence of breast cancer cells to human umbilical vein endothelial cells under static and flow conditions

open access: yesCell Adhesion & Migration, 2021
Tissue factor (TF) has been extensively studied for tumor metastasis, but its role in mediating cancer cell adhesion to vasculature remains unknown. This study aimed to measure the ability of TF to mediate the adhesion of breast cancer cells to human ...
