Growth-factor-induced, persistent fibroblast migration is mediated by mechanical insulation of cell front and back [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cell migration is a crucial process during development, the immune response and wound healing. As a consequence, aberrant cell migration can lead to tumor metastasis or autoimmune disorders.

Differential roles of Smad2 and Smad3 in the regulation of TGF-β1-mediated growth inhibition and cell migration in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells: control by Rac1

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2011
BackgroundProgression of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is largely the result of genetic and/or epigenetic alterations in the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β)/Smad signalling pathway, eventually resulting in loss of TGF-β-mediated growth ...

DEPDC7 inhibits cell proliferation, migration and invasion in hepatoma cells

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2017
DEP Domain Containing 7 (DEPDC7) is highly and specifically expressed in normal liver tissue, belonging to the class of genes of liver-selective cell communication. Although the function of DEPDC7 remains poorly understood, its expression is decreased in liver cancer compared with normal liver tissues. It has previously been demonstrated that knockdown

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Dasatinib inhibits CXCR4 signaling in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia cells and impairs migration towards CXCL12 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Chemokines and their ligands play a critical role in enabling chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) cells access to protective microenvironmental niches within tissues, ultimately resulting in chemoresistance and relapse: disruption of these signaling ...

Inhibition of Hypoxia-Induced Cell Motility by p16 in MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cells

open access: yesJournal of Cancer, 2010
Our previous studies indicated that p16 suppresses breast cancer angiogenesis and metastasis, and downregulates VEGF gene expression by neutralizing the transactivation of the VEGF transcriptional factor HIF-1α.

Cabozantinib inhibits AXL- and MET-dependent cancer cell migration induced by growth-arrest-specific 6 and hepatocyte growth factor

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports, 2020
Cabozantinib is known as an inhibitor of receptor tyrosine kinases mainly targeting AXL receptor tyrosine kinase (AXL), MET proto-oncogene-encoded receptor tyrosine kinase (MET), and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2. Growth arrest-specific 6

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Hypoxia promotes non-small cell lung cancer cell stemness, migration, and invasion via promoting glycolysis by lactylation of SOX9

open access: yesCancer Biology & Therapy
Background Lung cancer is the deadliest form of malignancy and the most common subtype is non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Hypoxia is a typical feature of solid tumor microenvironment.

Inhaled tolafentrine reverses pulmonary vascular remodeling via inhibition of smooth muscle cell migration

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2005
BackgroundThe aim of the study was to assess the chronic effects of combined phosphodiesterase 3/4 inhibitor tolafentrine, administered by inhalation, during monocrotaline-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in rats.MethodsCD rats were given a ...
