Self-sorting of isotropic cells

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1970
Abstract In the preceding paper (Goel et al., 1970), using a simple model which assumes (a) differential affinities between cells of different types, and, (b) local motility of cells, it was shown that, for a self-sorting system of isotropic cells, none of the absolutely stable configurations are the two-dimensional analogs of biologically ...

Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1972
An instrument has been developed for sorting biological cells. The cells are rendered differentially fluorescent and incorporated into a small liquid stream illuminated by a laser beam. The cells pass sequentially through the beam, and fluorescent light from the cells gives rise to electrical signals.

Magnetic labeling and cell sorting

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1984
Magnetic labeling by a magnetite-antibody conjugate has been combined with magnetic filtration (high gradient magnetic separation) to effect a rapid and efficient separation of a selected cell population from a suspension of single cells. Samples of more than 10(8) cells could be fractionated in about 5 min with complete recovery.

Microfluidic chips for cell sorting

Frontiers in Bioscience, 2008
Micro total analysis systems (microTAS) also referred to as "lab-on-a-chip" is one of the fastest progressing fields in biological and chemical analyses. In recent years, microTAS for single cell analysis has drawn the attention of researchers due to its significant advantages over traditional methods for single cell manipulation, fast cell sorting and

Single cell sorting and cloning

Journal of Immunological Methods, 2000
Cell sorters now allow the selection of cells and other bodies according to a range of quite diverse criteria. The additional refinement that allows the sorting of individual cells based on these criteria has seen application in many fields of research.

Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting

2007
Flow cytometry and cell sorting are well-established technologies in clinical diagnostics and biomedical research. Heterogeneous mixtures of cells are placed in suspension and passed single file across one or more laser interrogation points. Light signals emitted from the particles are collected and correlated to entities such as cell morphology ...

High‐Speed Cell Sorting

Current Protocols in Cytometry, 1997
AbstractA flow cytometer has the ability to analyze several thousand cells per second. This is particularly valuable for the detection of rare events. For many biological and clinical applications, cells must be isolated on the basis of multiple quantitative properties.

The Progresses of Spermatogonial Stem Cells Sorting Using Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting

Stem Cell Reviews and Reports, 2019
In recent years, the research on stem cells has been more and more in-depth, and many achievements have been made in application. However, due to the small number of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) and deficiency of efficient markers, it is difficult to obtain very pure SSCs, which results in the research on them being hindered.

Single-Cell Raman Sorting

2014
Single-cell Raman spectroscopy is a noninvasive and label-free technology for biochemical analysis of bacterial cells. A single-cell Raman spectrum functions as a metabolic "fingerprint" of an individual cell, which enables differentiation of cell types, physiological states, nutrient condition, and variable phenotypes.

Flow sorting in the study of cell‐cell interaction

Cytometry, 1983
AbstractUndifferentiated mouse teratocarcinoma cells were cocultivated with differentiated mouse endoderm cells in order to study the possible induction of teratocarcinoma cell differentiation.A difference in DNA content between the two cell types was experimentally introduced to enable the reisolation of the teratocarcinoma cells after cocultivation ...
