Solvatochromic hydrazone anions derived from chalcones

Dyes and Pigments, 2008
Abstract The preparation and solvatochromism of anions derived from the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones of 1,3-diphenylpropenone, 1-phenyl-3-(4-nitrophenyl)propenone and 1-phenyl-3-(2-thienyl)propenone are described and their behaviour was interpreted in terms of theoretical calculations of their internal charge-transfer transitions.

Dimeric chalcone derivatives from Mallotus philippensis

Phytochemistry, 1998
Two new chalcone derivatives with a unique ring system caused by dimerization between a dimethylchromene ring and a phenoxyl group, were isolated from kamala (Mallotus philippensis). The structures were determined by spectral analysis.

Synthesis and antimalarial activity of sulfonamide chalcone derivatives

Il Farmaco, 2005
A series of sulfonamide chalcone derivatives were synthesized and investigated for their abilities to inhibit beta-hematin formation in vitro and their activity against cultured Plasmodium falciparum parasites. Inhibition of beta-hematin formation was minimal in the aromatic ring of the chalcone moiety as it appeared for compounds 4b, 4d-f, and ...

Synthesis and biological activities of fluorinated chalcone derivatives

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2002
We have designed and synthesized new 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors, fluorinated 3,4-dihydroxychalcones, and evaluated their biological activities with respect to antiperoxidation activity and in vitro antitumor activities. All fluorinated chalcones tested showed 5-lipoxygenase inhibition on rat basophilic leukemia-1 (RBL-1) cells and inhibitory action on ...

Chalcone derivatives and their antibacterial activities: Current development

Bioorganic Chemistry, 2019
The increase in antibiotic resistance due to various factors has encouraged the look for novel compounds which are active against multidrug-resistant pathogens. In this framework, chalcone-based compounds showed a diversity of pharmacological properties, and its derivatives possess a high degree of structural diversity, and it is helpful for the ...

β-Ionone derived chalcones as potent antiproliferative agents

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2013
A series of β-ionone derived chalcones were evaluated for cytotoxic activity against various human cancer cell lines using SRB dye assay. All the compounds displayed moderate to high cytotoxic effect against almost all the cancer cell lines. The results also revealed the effect of substituents of the aromatic ring on their inhibitory potential.

Anti-inflammatory cyclohexenyl chalcone derivatives in Boesenbergia pandurata

Phytochemistry, 2002
The cyclohexenyl chalcone derivative [(-)-hydroxypanduratin A], together with the previously known panduratin A, sakuranetin, pinostrobin, pinocembrin, and dihydro-5,6-dehydrokawain were isolated from the chloroform extract of the red rhizome variety of Boesenbergia pandurata (Robx.) Schltr.
