Utilizing Chimeric Proteins for Exploring the Cellular Fate of Endogenous Proteins

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2002
We recently designed and constructed chimeric proteins for the elimination of specific cell populations. These chimeric proteins are composed of a targeting component fused to an apoptotic protein as the killing moiety. However, chimeric proteins can serve not only to eliminate cell populations, but also as "biological tools" for studying the fate of ...

Influence of protein transduction domains on target-specific chimeric proteins

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2005
Direct targeting to the cytoplasm and nucleus using protein transduction domains (PTD) has been described to be efficient but non-cell-type-specific, and only has clinical relevance when the molecule is active exclusively in the diseased cell. The use of PTDs is an attractive mechanism to improve drug delivery.

Chimeric Molecules to Target Proteins for Ubiquitination and Degradation

2005
Protein degradation is one of the tactics used by the cell for irreversibly inactivating proteins. In eukaryotes, ATP-dependent protein degradation in the cytoplasm and nucleus is carried out by the 26S proteasome. Most proteins are targeted to the 26S proteasome by covalent attachment of a multiubiquitin chain.

Studies with chimeric protein purification methods.

2017
The development of Immobilised Metal Affinity Chromatography (IMAC) over the last thirty years has widely advanced the efficiency of protein purification in biochemical research. IMAC is one of a new category of protein separation techniques that offer the freedom to pre-establish an affinity between target protein and sorbent by the use of genetically-
