Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Engineered Protein‐Based Ionic Conductors for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rational incorporation of charged residues into an engineered, self‐assembling protein scaffold yields solid‐state protein films with outstanding ionic conductivity. Salt‐doping further enhances conductivity, an effect amplified in the engineered variants. These properties enable the material integration into an efficient supercapacitor.

Combinatorial functions of two chimeric antibodies directed to human CD4 and one directed to the a-chain of the human interleukin-2 receptor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The general feasibility of chimerization of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) has already been shown for a large number of them. In order to evaluate in vitro parameters relevant to immunosuppressive therapy, we have chimerized and synthesized two anti-CD4 ...

Microfluidic Hydroporation Platform for Effective Allogeneic CAR‐T Cell Production and Subsequent Functional Cytotoxicity Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The hydroporator platform employs controlled hydrodynamic deformation for efficient mRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 delivery into primary human T cells, enabling allogeneic CAR‐T cell manufacturing. It preserves cell functionality and drives potent gene editing, CAR expression, and tumor cytotoxicity, while feature‐based analysis links these functional outcomes ...

ChiMSource improves the accuracy of studies on novel amino acid sequences by predicting alternative sources of mass spectrometry-derived peptides

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal
Mass spectrometry (MS) proteomics is currently the most powerful tool for identifying both annotated proteins and proteins translated from non-canonical open reading frames or unusual genetic events.

Antimicrobial Functionalization of Surfaces by a Chimeric Adhesive Protein

open access: yesACS Applied Bio Materials
The main aim of this work is to account for the prevention and control of microbial growth on surfaces of interest in medical technology. Surface modification is often achieved by physiotherapy or chemical treatments that can involve time-consuming steps, hazardous reagents, and harsh conditions.

PD‐1 Inhibits CD4+ TRM‐Mediated cDC1 Mobilization via Suppressing JAML in Human NSCLC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CD4+ tissue‐resident memory T cells (TRMs) in non‐small cell lung cancer recruit conventional type 1 dendritic cells via XCL1‐XCR1 signaling, orchestrating antitumor immunity. The costimulatory molecule JAML is essential for this process. PD‐1 blockade restores JAML expression and cDC1 mobilization, while JAML agonists synergize with anti‐PD‐1 therapy,

Anti‐PD‐1 Nanobody‐Armored MSLN CAR‐T Therapy for Malignant Mesothelioma: Preclinical and Clinical Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel therapy using engineered immune cells (NAC‐T cells) showed promise for refractory malignant mesothelioma. Based on the encouraging preclinical data, the first‐in‐human trial is initiated, demonstrating tolerable safety and promising anti‐tumor activity (ORR 63.6%, DCR 100%, including one CR).

Influence of the pre-membrane and envelope proteins on structure, pathogenicity, and tropism of tick-borne encephalitis virus

open access: yesJournal of Virology
Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is a neurotropic flavivirus that causes thousands of human infections annually. Viral tropism in the brain is determined by the presence of necessary receptors, entry factors, and the ability of the virus to overcome ...
