De Novo Design and Directed Evolution Refinement of Mirror‐Image Protein Binders Targeting Interleukin‐4

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents the de novo design and directed evolution of a mirror‐image D‐protein inhibitor targeting human interleukin‐4 (IL‐4). The engineered molecule exhibits nanomolar binding affinity for IL‐4 and effectively inhibits IL‐4–mediated signaling.

An ATP‐Mediated Antibiotic β‐Peptide Nanofiber That Kills Multidrug‐Resistant Bacteria via a Multistage Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 3K‐AP system forms infinite supramolecular fibrils that undergo controlled degradation into shorter fragments upon enzymatic hydrolysis. Multitechnique imaging reveals a stepwise bacteriolytic mechanism involving bacterial entrapment, disassembly into lethal constructs, and associated extracellular vesicle release, highlighting the dynamic ...

Ruthenium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrohydroxyalkylation of Butadiene: The Role of the Formyl Hydrogen Bond in Stereochemical Control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The catalyst generated in situ from RuH$_2$(CO)(PPh$_3$)$_3$, ($S$)-SEGPHOS, and a chiral phosphoric acid promotes asymmetric hydrohydroxyalkylation of butadiene and affords enantioenriched $\alpha$-methyl homoallylic alcohols.

A Chirality‐Converted Bacteriolytic Dodecapeptide Regulates Vibrio‐Induced Polymicrobial Infection and Ameliorates Invasion‐Associated Gut Microbiota Disequilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multidrug‐resistant Vibrio infections are rising rapidly and threaten coastal populations worldwide. This study introduces D‐zp37, a chirality‐engineered antimicrobial peptide with exceptional potency against resistant Vibrio species. D‐zp37 kills planktonic cells, blocks mixed‐species biofilms, disrupts essential bacterial stress responses, and shows ...

Atroposelective Construction of Axially Chiral Tetraarylethenes Via NHC‐Catalyzed Desymmetrization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report the first NHC‐catalyzed atroposelective synthesis of axially chiral TAEs via oxidative desymmetrization of prochiral TAE dialdehydes. This catalytic strategy operates under mild conditions and accommodates a broad range of phenolic and nitrogen nucleophiles, delivering diverse axially chiral TAEs in good yields and up to 99% ee.

Dynamic foldamer chemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Foldamers can be made more than pieces of static, conformationally uniform molecular architecture by designing into their structure the conformational dynamism characteristic of functional molecular machines.

Asymmetric Friedel-Crafts Alkylation of Indole with Chalcones Catalyzed by Chiral Phosphoric Acids

open access: yesMolecules, 2009
The reaction of indole with chalcones, to give Michael-type adducts, was found to occur with good efficiency (up to 98% yield) and moderate enantioselectivity (up to 52% e.e.) in the presence of a chiral BINOL-based phosphoric acid.
