GEVIS: A Workflow‐Driven Visual Analytics Approach to Differential Gene Expression Analysis

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Differential gene expression (DGE) analysis is one of the most widely used techniques for investigating RNA‐seq data and supports numerous medical and biological applications, including biomarker identification for diagnosis and prognosis, as well as the evaluation of medical treatments.

Irradiated Liver Cancer Cell Vaccine Transfected With GM‐CSF Induces Specific and Long‐Lasting Anti‐tumour Immunity Through the Synergistic Effect of Oxidised mtDNA and GM‐CSF

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Song et al. developed an mGM‐CSF‐loaded, liver cancer cell‐based vaccine that potently activated dendritic cells and elicited tumour‐specific T cell responses. Mechanistically, radiation‐induced oxidative damage to mitochondrial DNA in cancer cells triggers the cGAS‐STING pathway in DCs, which synergizes with mGM‐CSF‐driven JAK2‐STAT3 signalling to ...

Behind the scenes: how the EMILIN/Multimerin family shapes the cancer landscape

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The EMILIN/Multimerin family members regulate key hallmarks of cancer—including apoptosis, angiogenesis, metastasis, and tumor microenvironment remodeling. As indicated, their function in immune evasion, drug resistance, and metabolic reprogramming remains largely unexplored.

Real‐World Use of Emicizumab in Patients With Acquired Haemophilia A: An Interim Safety Analysis of a Large‐Scale Post‑Marketing Surveillance Study

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Acquired haemophilia A (AHA) is a rare autoimmune disorder where the development of autoantibodies to factor (F)VIII neutralise its function, leading to bleeding. Emicizumab has been approved for treating AHA in Japan. Aim This post‐marketing study was performed to primarily examine the use and safety of emicizumab, and indirectly

Anti‐Integrin αvβ6 Autoantibodies as Diagnostic and Monitoring Biomarkers for Pediatric‐Onset Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Levels of anti‐integrin αvβ6 antibodies were significantly higher in pediatric‐onset primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) than in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) and may reflect disease activity. These antibodies may serve as a novel biomarker for distinguishing PSC from AIH and for monitoring disease progression.

FOXA1 is a highly sensitive diagnostic marker for prostate cancer including small cell carcinoma of the prostate

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
FOXA1 is a highly sensitive diagnostic marker for prostate cancer. Besides prostatic adenocarcinoma, it is also expressed in 57%–80% of metastatic or primary prostatic small cell carcinomas, which lose traditional prostatic markers including NKX3.1. Although it is less specific than NKX3.1, it can serve as a valuable adjunct for confirming prostatic ...

Cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yes, 2015
Cholangiocarcinoma presents a challenge for cancer specialists all over the world. Neoplasia of the biliary tract are rare, accounting for approximately 3% of all gastrointestinal tumours with an incidence of about 3 per 100,000; but rate have been ...

Unveiling the molecular profile of adenosquamous gallbladder carcinoma: characterization of a Caucasian cohort

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
GBASCs are MMRp tumours, exhibiting minimal HER2 overexpression and elevated PD‐L1 expression compared to adenocarcinomas. Especially in metastatic and TP53‐wild type tumours, GBASCs can express CLDN18, albeit limited to the glandular component. Their genomic profile resembles that of adenocarcinomas with an enrichment in alterations on PIK3CA, PTEN ...

Beyond FGFR2-rearrangement: a study on the molecular landscape of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yes
reservedBackground. Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a rare malignancy arising in the epithelium of the biliary tract and characterized by a dismal prognosis. Molecular profiling has revealed two major somatic alterations that characterize iCCA:

Influence of MASLD and MAFLD on long‐term extrahepatic cancer incidence and cancer mortality in regional Australia

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Aims Metabolic (dysfunction)‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has been linked to an increased risk of extrahepatic cancers. Whether MASLD or metabolic (dysfunction)‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is associated with an increased risk of extrahepatic cancer incidence or death in Australia is unknown. Methods This
