Impact of Chelation on Reactivity and Cytotoxicity of Hemilabile Biphenyl Gold(III) N‐Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
An array of eight pairs of biphenyl gold(III) complexes comprising NHC–pyridine ligands having a hemilabile character in vitro displays antiproliferative activity toward human cells in the low micromolar range which is exclusively due to their neutral open form according to speciation studies.

Gz, a guanine nucleotide-binding protein with unique biochemical properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Cloning of a complementary DNA (cDNA) for Gz alpha, a newly appreciated member of the family of guanine nucleotide-binding regulatory proteins (G proteins), has allowed preparation of specific antisera to identify the protein in tissues and to assay it ...

Safety and immunogenicity of a reformulated Vietnamese bivalent killed, whole-cell, oral cholera vaccine in adults.

open access: yes, 2007
Vietnam currently produces an orally administered, bivalent (O1 and O139) killed whole-cell vaccine and is the only country in the world with endemic cholera to use an oral cholera vaccine in public health practice.

Reconstituting ring-rafts in bud-mimicking topography of model membranes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
During vesicular trafficking and release of enveloped viruses, the budding and fission processes dynamically remodel the donor cell membrane in a protein- or a lipid-mediated manner.

The upside of epilepsy: Theories of an evolutionary paradox

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract The persistence of common, heritable conditions, like epilepsy, that are associated with reduced reproductive fitness is an evolutionary paradox. Endogenous analgesic, anti‐depressant, and inflammatory mechanisms able to repair compromised functions can offer advantages in unexpected crises.

Synthetic Biology‐Based Engineering Living Therapeutics for Antimicrobial Application

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights synthetic biology‐driven antibacterial strategies, focusing on three innovative approaches: engineered bacteriophages for precision bacterial targeting, reprogrammed microbes that detect quorum‐sensing signals or metabolites to release antimicrobials, and engineering mammalian cells that recognize pathogen‐associated ...

Persistent diarrhoea in a 5-month-old baby carrying Vibrio cholerae nonO1/nonO139 producing Haitian cholera toxin

open access: yesNew Microbes and New Infections, 2018
Cholera toxin (CT) is the principal virulence factor of Vibrio cholerae for fatal cholera diarrhoea. Serogroups O1 and O139 harbour CT and are known to be epidemic strains.

The Study of the Immune Layer to the Cholera Agent in Individuals Living in the Republic of Guinea

open access: yesПроблемы особо опасных инфекций, 2019
For a reliable assessment of the presense of the immune layer to cholera agent, it is necessary to determine the level of specific antibodies in human blood serum.

Structural organization of cholera toxin gene and its expression in an environmental non-pathogenic strain of Vibrio cholerae [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Non-pathogenic, environmental strain ofVibrio cholerae, ELTOR Ogawa EW6 carries a copy of the cholera toxin gene in its chromosome. Restriction enzyme digestion followed by Southern blot analysis revealed that the structure of the cholera toxin gene in ...
