Familial hypercholesterolaemia: cholesterol efflux and coronary disease [PDF]
AbstractBackgroundCoronary heart disease (CHD) risk inversely associates with levels of high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL‐C). The protective effect of HDL is thought to depend on its functionality, such as its ability to induce cholesterol efflux.Materials and methodsWe compared plasma cholesterol efflux capacity between male familial ...

Effects of dalcetrapib in patients with a recent acute coronary syndrome [PDF]
In observational analyses, higher levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol have been associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease events.

Biomimetic Cell Membrane‐Coated MOFs System for Targeted Cancer Therapy
Biomimetic MOF‐based drug delivery nanoplatforms synthesized using liposomes or cell membranes as camouflage for multiple cancer therapeutics. ABSTRACT The integration of metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) with cell membrane coatings has emerged as a revolutionary strategy to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of cancer nanomedicine.

Inflammatory remodeling of the HDL proteome impairs cholesterol efflux capacity[S]
Recent studies demonstrate that HDL's ability to promote cholesterol efflux from macrophages associates strongly with cardioprotection in humans independently of HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) and apoA-I, HDL's major protein. However, the mechanisms that impair

Apolipoprotein M promotes cholesterol uptake and efflux from mouse macrophages
Apolipoprotein M (ApoM) exhibits various anti‐atherosclerotic functions as a component of high‐density lipoprotein (HDL) particles. Scavenger receptor class B type I (SR‐BI) is a classic HDL receptor that mediates selective cholesterol uptake and ...

Release of cholesterol-rich particles from the macrophage plasma membrane during movement of filopodia and lamellipodia. [PDF]
Cultured mouse peritoneal macrophages release large numbers of ~30-nm cholesterol-rich particles. Here, we show that those particles represent fragments of the plasma membrane that are pulled away and left behind during the projection and retraction of ...

Integrating Human Intestinal Organoids into FDA'S New Approach Methodologies for Drug Discovery
Illustration summarizes how human intestinal organoids (HIOs) are becoming transformative in preclinical research. Preclinical drug discovery pipelines often rely on animal models for ADMET studies, even though interspecies ADME gaps, poor external validity, and high attrition rates are common.

In silico simulation of reversible and irreversible swelling of mitochondria: The role of membrane rigidity [PDF]
Mitochondria have been widely accepted as the main source of ATP in the cell. The inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM) is important for the maintenance of ATP production and other functions of mitochondria.

This review surveys nanoparticle‐based strategies to enhance adoptive cell therapy, particularly CAR‐T cell approaches, in solid tumor treatment. It describes how nanoparticles can improve tumor immunogenicity and T‐cell infiltration while reducing toxicity, and how they enable in vivo CAR‐T cell generation.
