A colorimetric CMOS-based platform for rapid total serum cholesterol quantification [PDF]
Elevated cholesterol levels are associated with a greater risk of developing cardiovascular disease and other illnesses, making it a prime candidate for detection on a disposable biosensor for rapid point of care diagnostics.

Besnoitia besnoiti infection alters both endogenous cholesterol de novo synthesis and exogenous LDL uptake in host endothelial cells [PDF]
Besnoitia besnoiti, an apicomplexan parasite of cattle being considered as emergent in Europe, replicates fast in host endothelial cells during acute infection and is in considerable need for energy, lipids and other building blocks for offspring ...

ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoscale mediators of intercellular communication with diverse molecular cargoes that reflect their cell of origin. Advances in isolation, detection, and single‐particle analytics have revealed increasing molecular and functional heterogeneity, while exposing limitations in how EV identity and activity are ...

Studying Macromolecular Composition in Cell–Cell Interfaces Using 3D Membrane Reconstitution Systems
A comprehensive understanding of the interactions between proteins, lipids and glycocalyx components at the immune synapse is still lacking. Here, an artificial and a semi‐artificial model contact system were established to reconstitute the cell‐cell contact in 3D. The model systems enable the examination of macromolecule enrichment or depletion at the

ACAT1, Cav-1, and PrP expression in brains and skin fibroblasts from Sarda breed sheep with scrapie-resistant and scrapie-susceptible genotype. [PDF]
Scrapie is an infective ovine neurodegenerative disease; the only identified component of the infectious agent being an aberrant isoform (PrPSc) of the cellular prion protein (PrPC). So far, no means for ante-mortem diagnosis are available for Scrapie as

This review surveys nanoparticle‐based strategies to enhance adoptive cell therapy, particularly CAR‐T cell approaches, in solid tumor treatment. It describes how nanoparticles can improve tumor immunogenicity and T‐cell infiltration while reducing toxicity, and how they enable in vivo CAR‐T cell generation.

Identification of some lipid peroxides by thin-layer chromatography
Solvent systems are described which permit class separations of various peroxidized lipids by thin-layer chromatography. This procedure has proved useful in biological studies and for testing the deterioration of lipids.Proof is given that the least ...
