Heterogenous Neuropathology in a Pedigree with RAB39B‐Related Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background In 2015, we reported a family with Parkinson's disease resulting from the RAB39B p.G192R (c.574G>A) variant. Since then, two affected brothers from the family have undergone autopsy. Objectives To characterize neuropathological findings, assess intracellular distribution of RAB39B protein, and examine the effect of p.G192R on α ...

HETEROZYGOTES FOR ATYPICAL CHOLINESTERASE

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1982
Three hundred and thirty-two patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy received thiopentone and suxamethonium. In 31 the duration of the apnoea was greater than an assumed upper limit of normal of 240 s. Eight of these patients proved, on biochemical grounds, to be heterozygotes for the atypical gene. The reason why the heterozygous state is rarely

Apathy in Lewy Body Disorders: A Position Paper

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Apathy is one of the most prevalent and disabling non‐motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), collectively referred to as Lewy body disorders (LBDs). It is associated with reduced quality of life, accelerated cognitive decline, increased caregiver burden, and poorer functional outcomes, yet remains ...

Serum cholinesterase levels in patients with cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Serum cholinesterase levels were determined in 180 patients with carcinoma and in 146 normal subjects. Serum cholinesterase activity was significantly lower in patients suffering from cancer than in normal controls, although still within the normal range.

Urinary Dysfunction in Myasthenic Syndromes: A Scoping Review of Clinical Features and Treatment‐Related Associations

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Urinary dysfunction has been reported in association with myasthenic syndromes, including myasthenia gravis (MG), Lambert–Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS), and congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMS), but evidence regarding its prevalence, clinical impact, pathophysiology, and management remains limited.

Cholinesterase Activity of the Motor Endplate in Rat Intercostal Muscle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Cholinesterase activity was localized solely in the motor endplate of the membrane in rate intercostal muscle. The diameter of rat motor endplates in the gradient dimension was 31.9 micrometers. The cholinesterase activity per unit protein of the soluble
