Functional Contribution of Chorismate Synthase, Anthranilate Synthase, and Chorismate Mutase to Penetration Resistance in Barley–Powdery Mildew Interactions

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2009
Plant processes resulting from primary or secondary metabolism have been hypothesized to contribute to defense against microbial attack. Barley chorismate synthase (HvCS), anthranilate synthase α subunit 2 (HvASa2), and chorismate mutase 1 (HvCM1) occupy

Metabolic Rewiring of the Shikimate Pathway Enables Rose‐Scented Rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rice fragrance is a key determinant of grain quality, yet the aroma profile of cultivated rice is highly uniform and largely dominated by the popcorn‐like compound 2‐acetyl‐1‐pyrroline. Here we expanded the aromatic repertoire of rice by engineering a rose‐like fragrance through reconstruction of the phenylalanine‐derived 2‐phenylethanol (2‐PE)

Selection of Heterodera glycines Chorismate Mutase-1 Alleles on Nematode-Resistant Soybean

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2005
The soybean cyst nematode Heterodera glycines is the most destructive pathogen of soybean in the Unites States. Diversity in the parasitic ability of the nematode allows it to reproduce on nematode-resistant soybean. H.

Trichoderma parareesei Favors the Tolerance of Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) to Salinity and Drought Due to a Chorismate Mutase

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
Both drought and salinity represent the greatest plant abiotic stresses in crops. Increasing plant tolerance against these environmental conditions must be a key strategy in the development of future agriculture.

Stage‐Specific Metabolic and Proteomic Dynamics Underlying Ripening and Quality Formation in Tropical Evergreen Pomegranate

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
Integrated multi‐omics reveals that pomegranate ripening between 90 and 130 days drives optimal sugar‐acid balance and pigmentation via coordinated regulation of phenylpropanoid, flavonoid, and carbohydrate metabolism pathways. ABSTRACT Pomegranate fruit development involves coordinated physiological, metabolic, and proteomic changes shaping coloration

Comparison of Chorismate Mutase Isozyme Patterns in Selected Plants [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1978
A wide variety of plants have been assayed to determine if they contain three isozymes of chorismate mutase (EC 5.4.99.5) as does alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) or two isozymes, as does mung bean (Phaseolus aureus). The isozymes were separated by disc electrophoresis.

The DENN Protein SMD1 Forms a Signalling Hub With Rab GTPase YPT1 to Regulate Diverse Biological Processes in Phytopathogenic Fungi and Serves as a HIGS Target for Crop Protection

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
The DENN domain‐containing protein SsSMD1 is highly conserved across phytopathogenic fungi. Functioning as a putative GEF for RAS GTPase SsYPT1, SsSMD1 orchestrates its activation to regulate cell wall integrity, sclerotia development, and virulence in Sclerotinia sclerotiorum.

Salicylanilide Diethyl Phosphates as Potential Inhibitors of Some Mycobacterial Enzymes

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Antimycobacterially active salicylanilide diethyl phosphates were evaluated to identify their potential drug target(s) for the inhibition of several mycobacterial enzymes, including isocitrate lyase, L-alanine dehydrogenase (MtAlaDH), lysine ε ...

Phenylalanine biosynthesis and its relationship to accumulation of capsaicinoids during Capsicum chinense fruit development

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2016
Activities of phenylalanine (Phe) biosynthetic enzymes chorismate mutase (CM) and arogenate dehydratase (ADT) and of phenylalanine ammonia lyase [PAL, an enzyme that directs Phe towards capsaicinoid (CAP) synthesis] were analyzed during Capsicum chinense
