Chronic reversible cerebral ischemia

Neurosurgery, 1980
The authors describe their experience with a baboon model of reversible cerebral ischemia. Middle cerebral artery occlusion was achieved by external compression with an implantable, inflatable balloon cuff in awake, unanesthetized baboons. Selective cerebral angiography confirmed consistent, reliable occlusion.

Cerebral Metabolism in Chronic Ocular Ischemia

Ophthalmologica, 2010
Two patients with neovascular glaucoma presented an obstruction in the internal carotid artery and reverse flow of blood through the ophtalmic artery, a so-called ophthalmic artery steal phenomenon, on digital subtraction angiography. To study the cerebral metabolic state maintained by this mechanism, the same patients underwent positron emission ...

Nimodipine in the Treatment of Headache in Chronic Cerebral Ischemia

Cephalalgia, 1986
The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of nimodipine on non-migrainous vascular headache in patients with chronic cerebral ischemia. Eighty-six patients were examined in a double-blind trial for 16 weeks (12 weeks of nimodipine or placebo, followed by a 4-week placebo period). Fifty-six patients were studied in an open trial for 12 months.

The use of vazobral in chronic cerebral ischemia and headache

Zhurnal nevrologii i psikhiatrii im. S.S. Korsakova, 2018
The authors describe manifestations of chronic cerebral ischemia (CCI) and present the cases of a combination of primary headache and CCI. Management of patients with CCI and headache and the use of vazobral and its efficacy in treatment of such patients are discussed.

Neurophysiological studies of chronic cerebral Ischemia

Neuroscience and Behavioral Physiology, 2009
Studies of 186 patients aged 42-75 years with chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency of the brainstem were performed by recording spinal-bulbar-spinal and blink reflexes. Their characteristics were compared with MRI data. The results supported the view that neurophysiological abnormalities appear prior to changes in neuroimaging results, which ...

Chronic cerebral ischemia associated with Raynaud's syndrome

Zhurnal nevrologii i psikhiatrii im. S.S. Korsakova, 2015
Over the last years, a number of patients with chronic cerebral ischemia has been increased significantly. Compensatory possibilities of the brain and cerebral circulatory system are so great that even serious disturbances of blood circulation could not cause clinical signs of brain dysfunction for a long time.

To Intervene or Not to Intervene in Chronic Cerebral Ischemia: Endovascular Revascularization

World Neurosurgery, 2015
n their article, Bauer et al. discuss the results of the Carotid Occlusion Surgery Study (COSS) (3) and the Stenting and I Aggressive Medical Management for Preventing Recurrent Stroke in Intracranial Stenosis (SAMMPRIS) trial (1) and how they have affected the clinical management of patients with chronic cerebral ischemia.

Quality of life of patients with chronic cerebral ischemia

Zhurnal nevrologii i psikhiatrii im. S.S. Korsakova, 2017
To evaluate the effectiveness of soft techniques of manual therapy and correction of main indices of quality-of-life in patients with chronic cerebral ischemia. One hundred patients with chronic cerebral ischemia were examined. All patients received standard neurometabolic therapy.

Chronic cerebral ischemia in obstructive pulmonary diseases

Zhurnal nevrologii i psikhiatrii im. S.S. Korsakova, 2018
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the main causes of disease and death incidences worldwide. Different organs and systems are involved in COPD activating tissue hypoxia. It affects especially tissue functioning with the high level of intensity of metabolic processes, and the nervous system suffers first.

Disturbances of gait and postural stability in chronic cerebral ischemia

Zhurnal nevrologii i psikhiatrii im. S.S. Korsakova, 2017
Disturbances of gait and postural stability are characteristic of the chronic progressive vascular lesion of the brain observed in moderate to severe stages of cerebrovascular disease. Disconnections between the prefrontal cortex, basal ganglia and cerebellum due to the damage of the white matter (vascular leukoencephalopathy) underlie disturbances of ...
