Determination of biogenic amines in Chub Mackerel from different storage methods

Journal of Food Science, 2020
Abstract The eight biogenic amines (BA), which are histamine (HIS), tryptamine, putrescine, 2‐phenylethylamine, cadaverine, tyramine, spermidine, and spermine, were determined in Chub Mackerel under different storage conditions after being freshly caught. The storage time and temperature were varied and the guts

A Temperature-Dependent Growth Equation for Larval Chub Mackerel (Scomber japonicus)

Ocean Science Journal, 2020
Chub mackerel are commercially one of the most important species in the western North Pacific. Variations in water temperature and growth during the early life stages are critical in determining the subsequent recruitment and potential catch of chub mackerel, but yet no study has explicitly provided a temperature-dependent growth equation for chub ...

Steroidogenesis in Ovarian Follicles of Chub Mackerel, Scomber japonicus

Zoological Science, 2005
We incubated different radiolabeled steroid precursors with intact chub mackerel ovarian follicles to clarify the synthetic pathways of steroid hormones during vitellogenesis and following final oocyte maturation (FOM). During vitellogenesis, estradiol-17beta (E2) was synthesized from pregnenolone via 17-hydroxypregnenolone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone ...

Didymozoids in Muscle of Atlantic Chub Mackerel (Scomber colias)

Acta Parasitologica, 2019
Digenean trematodes of the family Didymozoidae are tissue parasites that are particularly common in scombrid fish. These parasites can reduce the commercial value of fish, especially the ones occurring in the muscle. In the present study and for the first time, we report the occurrence of didymozoids in muscle tissue of Atlantic chub mackerel (Scomber ...

Age, Growth, and Maturity of Chub Mackerel off Korea

North American Journal of Fisheries Management, 2008
Abstract The age, growth, and maturity of chub mackerel Scomber japonicus were determined by otolith analysis and gonad observation. Fish were subsampled monthly from Korean offshore commercial catches between September 1994 and August 1995. Gonad observations suggest that chub mackerel spawned mainly in May. The size at 50% maturity was

Effect of Bleeding on Lipid Oxidation in the Chub Mackerel Muscle

Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2008
Chub mackerel samples were prepared by two different methods of killing, struggling death in iced sea water (control) and instant death by mechanical bleeding (bleeding). The malonaldehyde content in the muscles of the bleeding sample were significantly higher than those of the control after 119 h of storage at 0 degrees C.

Leptin stimulates gonadotropin release and ovarian development in marine teleost chub mackerel

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 2020
Leptin transmits information about energy stored in the periphery to the reproductive axis and is an essential signal for puberty initiation in mammals; however, to date, few studies have focused on the direct effects of leptin stimulation on reproductive factors in fish.

Recovery policy for chub mackerel stock using recruitment-per-spawning

Fisheries Science, 2002
The stock abundance of chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus) in the Pacific Ocean off Japan declined in the 1980s and remained at low levels through the 1990s. There were recruitment successes in 1992 and 1996. However, the cohorts born in these years were heavily fished before the age of maturity and chub mackerel has not begun to recover.
