Light, Photoreceptors, and Circadian Clocks

open access: yes, 2007
Research over the past decade has focused increasingly on the photoreceptor mechanisms that regulate the circadian system in all forms of life. Some of the results to emerge are surprising. For example, the rods and cones within the mammalian eye are not required for the alignment (entrainment) of circadian rhythms to the dawn-dusk cycle.

Evaluation of pediatric sleep screening practices in primary care in a northeastern region of France: A survey conducted among general practitioners

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Pediatric sleep disorders are underreported and underdiagnosed in primary care settings. This study aimed to compare the screening and management of sleep in young children during routine follow‐up consultations by general practitioners (GPs) and physicians from Maternal and Child Protection services (MCPPs) in a region of France ...

Systematic in‐hospital screening and treatment for osteoporosis in a geriatric population with hip fractures

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Low‐trauma fractures of the hip signify osteoporosis and increase the risk of a second fracture. However, screening for secondary osteoporosis and initiating osteoporosis treatment can be challenging in a geriatric population.

A longitudinal analysis of pathogen shedding patterns in confiscated eastern box turtles

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Seventeen confiscated eastern box turtles were sampled for 4 pathogens monthly for a year to determine optimal sampling strategies and variation in pathogen shedding patterns. Observed prevalence values were within 10% of unbiased prevalence values, but the probability of detecting pathogens in an infected turtle during a given month was generally low,

Temporal evolution of plankton and particles distribution across a mesoscale front during the spring bloom

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract The effect of mesoscale features on the distribution of planktonic organisms are well documented. Yet, the interaction between these spatial features and the temporal scale, which can result in sudden increases of the planktonic biomass, is less known and not described at high resolution.
