Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Inflammatory mediators, infection, sepsis, and multiorgan failure after severe trauma [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The relation of (multiple) organ failure (OF) to the release of inflammatory mediators and the incidence of infection and sepsis was studied prospectively in 100 patients with multiple trauma (injury severity score=37).

Genetically Predicted Association of 91 Circulating Inflammatory Proteins with Multiple Sclerosis: A Mendelian Randomization Study [PDF]

open access: yes
Previous studies have validated a close association between inflammatory factors and multiple sclerosis (MS), but their causal relationship is not fully profiled yet.

Circulating inflammatory proteins are elevated in type 1 and type 2 diabetes and associated to complications. [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes Obes Metab
Abstract Background The presence of low‐grade inflammation has been reported in people with type 2 diabetes and related to the development of (macro)vascular complications. Whether systemic inflammation is present in type 1 diabetes and linked to long‐term complications remains unknown. We used

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Eprodisate for the treatment of renal disease in AA amyloidosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background: Amyloid A (AA) amyloidosis is a complication of chronic inflammatory conditions that develops when proteolytic fragments of serum amyloid A protein (SAA) are deposited in tissues as amyloid fibrils.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Effects of fatty acids on inflammatory markers studied in vivo and in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Inflammation involves interactions amongst many different cell types as a defense mechanism of the body. Inflammation is also involved in cardiovascular disease (CVD).

The translational relevance of the Annexin A1 pathway in inflammatory pathologies: opportunities for novel therapeutic development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
PhDEndogenous anti-inflammatory mediators form a complex network triggered in the host to dampen cell activation and promote resolution of inflammation.
