Metabolic Profiles Reveal Changes in Wild and Cultivated Soybean Seedling Leaves under Salt Stress. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Clarification of the metabolic mechanisms underlying salt stress responses in plants will allow further optimization of crop breeding and cultivation to obtain high yields in saline-alkali land.

Mitochondrial composition and function under the control of hypoxia

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2017
Hypoxia triggers several mechanisms to adapt cells to a low oxygen environment. Mitochondria are major consumers of oxygen and a potential source of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Direct Stimulation of Islet Insulin Secretion by Glycolytic and Mitochondrial Metabolites in KCl-Depolarized Islets. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
We have previously demonstrated that islet depolarization with 70 mM KCl opens Cx36 hemichannels and allows diffusion of small metabolites and cofactors through the β-cell plasma membrane.

Mass Production of LiFePO4/C Powders by Large Type Spray Pyrolysis Apparatus and Its Application to Cathode for Lithium Ion Battery

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2010
Spherical LiFePO4/C powders were successfully produced at a rate of 100 g/h using a large type spray pyrolysis apparatus. Organic compounds such as citric acid and sucrose were used as carbon sources.

Transcriptome analysis provides insights into the root response of Chinese fir to phosphorus deficiency

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2021
Background Phosphorus is one of the essential elements for plant growth and development, but available phosphorus (Pi) content in many soil types is low.

Identification of CmACL genes in melon and analysis of their potential functions in fruit sugar and acid accumulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Citric acid is the most important organic acid in melon and has a great influence on fruit flavor quality. ATP-citrate (pro-S) lyase (ACL) is a key regulator in the acetyl-CoA pathway and plays an important role in citric acid metabolism.

Caffeine citrate enhanced cisplatin antitumor effects in osteosarcoma and fibrosarcoma in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2019
Background While multiagent chemotherapy has dramatically improved the prognosis of sarcoma, the novel chemotherapeutics have hardly developed over the past 30 years.

Disrupted liver oxidative metabolism in glycine N-methyltransferase-deficient mice is mitigated by dietary methionine restriction

open access: yesMolecular Metabolism, 2022
Objective: One-carbon metabolism is routinely dysregulated in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. This includes decreased glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT), a critical regulator of s-adenosylmethionine (SAM).

Regulation of Citric Acid Cycle by Calcium

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1989
The relationship of extramitochondrial Ca2+ to intramitochondrial Ca2+ and the influence of intramitochondrial free Ca2+ concentrations on various steps of the citric acid cycle were evaluated. Ca2+ was measured using the Ca2+ sensitive fluorescent dye fura-2 trapped inside the rat heart mitochondria.

Anaplerotic Therapy Using Triheptanoin in Two Brothers Suffering from Aconitase 2 Deficiency

open access: yesMetabolites
Citric acid cycle deficiencies are extremely rare due to their central role in energy metabolism. The ACO2 gene encodes the mitochondrial isoform of aconitase (aconitase 2), the second enzyme of the citric acid cycle.
