Functional and Structural Characterization of a Novel HLA-DRB1*04:01-Restricted α-Enolase T Cell Epitope in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2016
Antibodies to citrullinated proteins, common in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, are strongly associated to a specific set of HLA-DR alleles including HLA-DRB1*04:01, *04:04, and *01:01.

Association between number and type of different ACPA fine specificities with lung abnormalities in early, untreated rheumatoid arthritis

open access: yesRMD Open, 2020
Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)-associated anticitrullinated protein/peptide antibodies (ACPA) might originate at mucosal sites such as the lungs.

Postoperative Stress Accelerates Atherosclerosis Through Inflammatory Remodeling of the HDL Proteome and Impaired Reverse Cholesterol Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study shows that noncardiac surgical inflammation rapidly disrupts HDL function and cholesterol efflux in mice and human patients. Impaired reverse cholesterol transport after surgery drives rapid lipid accumulation, NETosis, and apoptosis within atherosclerotic plaques.

Citrullinated Antigens with Multiple Citrulline Similar Motif in the Diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Preliminary Single-Center Study

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2021
The presence of anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs) in the serum is one of the immunological features of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) assay has been widely used in clinic for the diagnosis of RA.

Association between antibodies to carbamylated proteins and subclinical atherosclerosis in rheumatoid arthritis patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUND: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients carry a high risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The excess of cardiovascular disease cannot be entirely explained by traditional risk factors and the immune system contributes to the development

CCR6+ Th cell populations distinguish ACPA positive from ACPA negative rheumatoid arthritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Introduction: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can be separated into two major subpopulations based on the absence or presence of serum anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs).

Exploring the Vasculitis‐Tumors Link: Epidemiological Patterns, Mechanistic Insights, and Clinical Implications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review outlines association between vasculitis and malignancies and provides practical value for clinicians in distinguishing primary vasculitis from malignancy‐associated forms and optimizing patient surveillance, improving recognition of tumor‐associated vasculitis to reduce the risk of misdiagnosis, supporting more accurate clinical decision ...

Engineering Immune Cell to Counteract Aging and Aging‐Associated Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review highlights a paradigm shift in which advanced immune cell therapies, initially developed for cancer, are now being harnessed to combat aging. By engineering immune cells to selectively clear senescent cells and remodel pro‐inflammatory tissue microenvironments, these strategies offer a novel and powerful approach to delay age‐related ...

Immune Recognition of Citrullinated Proteoglycan Aggrecan Epitopes in Mice with Proteoglycan-Induced Arthritis and in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease affecting the joints. Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA) are frequently found in RA.
