Spatiotemporal dynamics of clonal selection and diversification in normal endometrial epithelium

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Through regeneration, the endometrium accumulates somatic mutations that can lead to diseases like endometriosis and cancer. Here, the authors use genomics to analyse normal endometrial glands from different patient cohorts, detect rhizome structures ...

The RNA Methyltransferase Complex of WTAP, METTL3, and METTL14 Regulates Mitotic Clonal Expansion in Adipogenesis

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 2018
Adipocyte differentiation is regulated by various mechanisms, of which mitotic clonal expansion (MCE) is a key step. Although this process is known to be regulated by cell cycle modulators, the precise mechanism remains unclear.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

T Cell Clonal Analysis Using Single-cell RNA Sequencing and Reference Maps

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2023
T cells are endowed with T-cell antigen receptors (TCR) that give them the capacity to recognize specific antigens and mount antigen-specific adaptive immune responses.

Abstract 2675: Clonal expansion of skin keratinocyte

open access: yesCancer Research, 2021
Abstract Skin is the largest organ system and is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) or sun light, a well-known mutagenic insult in various skin cancers, depending on the body site. A previous study showed that keratinocytes in sun-exposed eyelids harbor a high number of somatic mutations affecting a number of common driver mutations found in ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Cancer risk assessment of premalignant breast tissues from patients with BRCA mutations by genome profiling

open access: yesnpj Breast Cancer
Patients with germline pathogenic variants of BRCA1/2 genes have a particular predisposition to develop breast cancer. No clinical test has been developed to accurately and quantitatively evaluate their risk of developing breast cancer.

SIRT6 Is Essential for Adipocyte Differentiation by Regulating Mitotic Clonal Expansion

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Preadipocytes initiate differentiation into adipocytes through a cascade of events. Mitotic clonal expansion, as one of the earliest events, is essential for adipogenesis.

Consequences of clonality for sexual fitness: Clonal expansion enhances fitness under spatially restricted dispersal [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2015
Clonality is a pervasive feature of sessile organisms, but this form of asexual reproduction is thought to interfere with sexual fitness via the movement of gametes among the modules that comprise the clone. This within-clone movement of gametes is expected to reduce sexual fitness via mate limitation of male reproductive success and, in some cases ...
